Is it a better idea to buy a cross cart than to build one or should I just buy a sand rail? cross cart, seem like trophy trucks of the go kart world and I really want one, but I don't think I'm a good enough welder to be able to build one
@drxcustoms79675 ай бұрын
It depends. I’m not a great welder either. I’ve just done it enough now I think my welds will hold. The Kj plans make it easy though. So if you practice I’d say build one. If tools are an issue and you live close to AZ I’ll let you use my bender. If budget is no issue and you are 5’6 or shorter I’d say buy a trophy kart. Truly the trophy trucks of the kart world. You are looking for a Mod kart. They are amazing! Bout 10 to 30 grand to buy used. 50 for a new one. Thanks for watching!!

The whole kart or the new axel? New axel was like 100 bucks in steel and heim joints. I didn’t build the whole kart. They are called trophy karts. There were a few professional shops that made them. Most if not all are out of business. Three different versions. Jr1-jr2 and mod karts. Frames a basically the same. Mods are available used from 10,000 to 50000 JR2’s are out there from 3000 to 8000. I wouldn’t mess with a jr1. They are good for kids from 7-8 to 16. Adults sub 5’6”.

Very nice! One thing you can do if you don’t have a wheel tire package yet is to cut disks out of 3/4 plywood the diameter of your tires and drill out the hub bolt pattern in the center and mount to the the cart . That way you can set up your suspension and roll it around the shop if needed…

@drxcustoms796711 ай бұрын
I got the spindles from a guy who builds custom racing quads. He buys them but will not say from where. Honestly I’m going to delete them. They offer very little turn angle. So I’m going to copy them and he’s heim joints. Regarding the measurements. I think the rear arms are 18-19” with a 25 degree bend. 16” on the front arm. Plus heims. That will get you in the neighborhood.
