Some of my oldest videos here on youtube (like 15 years ago) were me defeating all the bosses in this game with 0 E-tanks, and Nightmare was by far the hardest boss. Yakuza and Serris were also pretty dang hard like that. But Nightmare took me several hours to beat, since you can only get hit twice and you're dead.

KZbin has been listening to me play super metroid or something because I have gotten a video on each day about the boss I defeat.. starting to get a little creepy

I'd like to see another Crocomire some day. I know he was planned for Zero Mission however was ultimately cut. Maybe in Prime 4 or another future game we'll see another one.

So the only reason to kill him is so, with his final action, he can take out the spiked wall on the other side?

Did you know you don't need to overthink everything? It was made as an enemy, period.

Yeah, Crocomire may seem like a harmless creature until he pushes you into the lava and kills you three times. Then it's justified.

All i know is that the year this game came out I had the game and original guide. I knew what was coming, but fighting him gave me nightmares lol.

I would imagine that focus testing feedback didn't like the feel of it. But the Devs decided to keep it in as a compromise.

My mother panicked so hard every time when she fought crocomire that to this day even the Name frightens her. True story. Shes a Tetris gamer for 30 years but she really loved super metroid to the bone, except for croco. 7 years old me had to take on croco for her because the last time she ever tried she was nearly crying at the end, lol.

I always felt bad for poor Crockie, he has a rough death.

Orrrrrr, the eyes are on the side of the head bc it's a 2D side scroller (if on the front you wouldn't be able to have many eyes, and not large ones). And maybe they didn't want it to be a super hard boss 🙄.

The eye-placement is actually a myth spawned from a coinsidence.

His roar was taken from Titanosaurus from the Godzilla movie Terror of Mechagodzilla, which was a similarly innocent monster who also had a tragic death

Even tho none of them are hard to me bcuz I’m a seasoned metroid player. I would say nightmare gives me the most problems even till this day. Serris would be next but hes just annoying tbh. Just get down his patterns and time your middles well and he’s not that hard. And then Yakuza, I figured out a strategy with him and only when he loses his legs is when he gets kinda unpredictable. Lastly SA-X I would say is almost easier than the first boss but just takes hella time to beat him. You corner cheese him under you on the platform that’s above the first door in the very left corner and he runs back and forth and then jumps up on platform in which you should have your beam charged and you hit him with it and knock him back to do it all over again until he transforms. When he’s a monster you just wait until he jumps up and run under him to the other side and hit em wit charged beams. Super easy to me. 🤷🏻

In the end after accepting what he done and losing his skin, he being the skeleton clears the way by destruction of spiky wall. I feel bad for him

The small teeth and eyes seem more like an ambush predator, eating small animals from Norfair. It doesn't attack Samus except In defense, but acting solely defensively against her doesn't imply it must be herbivorous (and what else is it eating in Norfair?). Samus is just larger than its typical prey, so it ignores this strange new creature until it starts shooting. Remember, the world isn't just two strict categories. Some predators are very gentle except to their specific prey, and some herbivores can be incredibly violent and dangerous.

I hope we get a super metroid remake one day
