To change the background image on a page you would need to design the entire page as one section then select Edit section > Background and upload your image.

@@jenxwebdesign Thanks for the answer. I was referring to the situation explained in the video. Meaning, what if I want to add a different background image to the mobile menu for different website pages specifically. Like for example, every website page would have a different mobile menu background image. I already found a solution for this. It's related to what I mentioned above (adding #collection = page id) but it needs to be inside the code injection area for the specific page and not on custom css area for the whole website. Maybe would be a good idea for you to make a video about this. Many people have this question. Or maybe you already made one about it. Thanks anyway!

Hey, Im using this method currently, but it seems to give a 404 error if the link is clicked two times in a row. Do you have this issue?

Well, well, well, I hadn't noticed this, but I just tested it and it is happening for me. I don't have an answer for why this is happening 🤔. Even when I edit the link not to open in a new tab and select it, if I go back to the site, I am redirected to the 404 page. This is not ideal. I'll send an email to Squarespace about it. I wonder if this will affect all redirects--not just these affiliate links. Haven't tested that yet.

@@jenxwebdesign I just learned about this myself. It seems to be a security feature of Squarespace (according to a forum post). From my testing it only happens once per unit, so it might not be a big deal in practice. Please reply when you hear back from Squarespace if there is a solution or workaround. Like you said, its not ideal, but not the worst thing either.

I was actually thinking of having TWO separate blogs (not 7, lol). My reasoning is: One would be public to all, the other was to be behind a paywall. The paywalled blog would be working in place of a course as - 1. I really don't care for Squarespace's course format of a full page video taking up the very top of each lesson and 2. because there would be ongoing additions to the paid blog that caters to a specific topic and ongoing conversations. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Tried this, but it didn't work. I did notice there already was a little code snippet where the ?rel=0 was supposed to go - it said ?si= and then a bunch of letters. Maybe that was the problem? How do you know what size of images to create for the post images to show up nicely without cutting out depending on the display? Square seems safe, but I’m thinking more about designs that have rectangular image space in the blog layout. Is there a go-to size that looks good on all devices?

What would you do if you're advertiser has a different link for each product in their line? So there could be 5 instead of one for the main website.

Good question! The way I handle it is that I create separate custom links for the products I share most often. It works exactly the same way. For example: For the sidebar plugin I might make the custom link /sidebar-plugin. Or for Will Myer's Webpage Mockup Display I may call it /myers/mockup. Does that make sense?

Sometimes these affiliates are set up so that if someone goes to their website using your affiliate link that it would apply to any products they purchase once there. You'd want to check that first. But I DO set up separate links when I want to highlight a specific product. For example, I created a free mini-course on how I created my portfolio in Squarespace user Will Myer's website mockup plugin, so I've generated a link for that specific product and shared it within the content (in several places) inside my mini-course. Does that make sense?

Thanks for this. One question - how do you set it up so that the person gets an instant email with the whitepaper/guide in the email (via a link). Does Squarespace offer that or would I need to integrate something like MailChimp?

Good question. I do not use Squarespace email campaigns, I use ConvertKit. Are you trying to prevent people from taking the freebie without confirming their subscription? Try going to Marketing > Email campaigns > Email campaign settings > Verification options > Customize email and link the whitepaper/guide in the context of the email. 🤞

@@jenxwebdesign Correct! We launch our agency this week and have 3 whitepapers ready to go. I'll be promoting on LinkedIn etc but I'm keen to get the email of anyone who downloads the content so I can start to nurture leads. I often see ads for webinars etc and you have to type in your email and you immediately get an email with the link to download. I've used the newsletter plug in you mentioned but not sure that pings out the whitepaper into emails straight away? Should I just add this link into the "confirmation email" section?

@@NodalMarketing Hi! Yes, I think that will solve your problem. This is why I don't use SS email campaigns, but I do understand that it's a good place to start when you're new. On the other hand, you may end up having to backtrack and move everything to another platform which is kind of a pain. I use ConvertKit and I've been really happy with them. Many Squarespace users use MailChimp because it easily integrates with SS, but other than the easy integration, I find their platform clunky so I've opted for ConvertKit. Many people also like FloDesk and MailerLite. There are a lot of options and they're all better than Squarespace. Good luck to you my friend!

Right? Just like most things, there are always exceptions. If you're designing for clients, they will almost always think they need to have an about page. It can be a slippery slope when you tell them that they shouldn't, lol.

Hi Gaia! 👋 Are you asking how to add categories to your blog or how to choose them? To add categories, you'll go to the settings for the blog post, select Options > Categories, type your category followed by a comma. This creates the category. I show you how to do that at 19:36 in the video. It prevents the wrap but the type now just protrudes the edge of the right-hand screen instead of just filling the screen

@@kamusafety I see. This may not be a solution for you. Try this: keep using the code in this tutorial, but add another code to reduce the size of this font for mobile only. Here's a code that will accomplish that: /* Change font-size H1 mobile */ @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { h1 {font-size:2.1rem !important} } Does that make sense? It will change the size of the font site-wide. Play around with the rem # until you get it how you like it. I hope this helps!
