Never fished in my life but cool to the city from this perspective. How do you know which are the "spots" to fish for the day?
@FishingBruZAАй бұрын
Hi and thx for commenting. At the moment we don't have any electronics to guide us, so we enter a general area and explore for the pelagic species (look for bird activity and fish busting up), for the reef species you see us catching, we can pretty much target them anywhere kelp grows thick along the rocky coastline.
@lesterphillipsj2866Ай бұрын
Hi Guys youll never catch anywhere. You trolling way to slow and the lines need to be further out..... Ill have the first yellowtail thanks
@FishingBruZAАй бұрын
Thx for the pointer. However, the only time in the video you could be referring to is when we were at idle speed while prep was done, trolling done at between 8 and 10 knts at 12 to 20m behind the motors. My bungees are 15m and the trawl lines were run further out. Next will be a down-rigger and maybe a out-rigger setup.
@lesterphillipsj2866Ай бұрын
@@FishingBruZA Look 30 plus years of boating ownership experience with many catches i thought id share from what i saw on your video 20 m still to short 10 knots to slow. I was only joking about the yellowtail but if you not prepared to learn then be prepared to struggle to catch...tight lines
@fpsKyroАй бұрын
@@lesterphillipsj2866 "Thx for the pointer." Shows willingness to learn, no? Your initial comment and response comment came off as bragging, but who am I to judge, hey? All the best to you! :)

Thankyou for an Awesome video. Are the chokka tide specific or can you catch them high or low tide.
@FishingBruZAАй бұрын
Hi, chokka either hunt or they don't. I have caught them in all conditions and also not caught any in all conditions. They seem to be less active when the pressure is super high and when there is lots of fresh water in the water coulomb (heavy winter rain for days on end). Best advise I can offer is... Get a line in the water and have fun fishing for them.

Hi,great vid,when and how does chokka season work if you dont mind me asking?
@FishingBruZA2 ай бұрын
The internet says: The closed season for recreational chokka fishing is from 12 PM on October 19 to 12 PM on November 30. But the Government Gazette, where our laws are published to make them legal, states: The closed season for recreational chokka fishing is from 12 PM on October 19 to 12 PM on November 23 of any year. Personally I go with the South African law which will stand in a court. 😀 Commercial has more dates.

Nicely done, one thing to consider though is why don’t you put your squid in a bucket when landing them to avoid making a mess on the jetty? A lot of people use that jetty, loading and unloading boats and tourist traffic and all that squid ink is a terrible sight and won’t clean itself
