they may sound completely different, but in both of my ears i hear western texts lauded above most others in their medium by many, through the lens of an eastern language (chinese and nightcore) communicated digitally, precisely but without a human voice. this piece of art exposes through juxtaposition how one concept can be communicated in vastly different ways, and yet most people will hear completely different things; the connection must be made through the breaking down of language itself. the choice of chinese may even be an allusion to chinese whispers, which like the bible has unclear origins, but is generally considered to stem from the idea of chinese, an eastern language, misunderstood and communicated through a western perspective and language; very relevant concepts. some may criticise the artwork for using examples of western texts that may be considered of the highest quality whilst using a soulless digital reproduction of the eastern languages that the texts are communicated through, but it is my belief that the nature of this is to subtly allude to the nature of both western works, and how like technology, the authors of both have been considered by many to be beyond humanity; of unfathomably unachievable child talent and divine inspiration in the case of mozart, and of direct divine inspiration in the case of the bible. in this common perspective, the works have been likewise decoupled from their humanity and their human origin. like the possible allusion to chinese whispers, the other 3 basic elements of the work all contain within themselves the fundamental concept of the whole. the mozart k 314 is perhaps the simplest, as it was originally an oboe concerto that was reworked into a second flute concerto, and for many years the original oboe concerto was lost. perhaps the reason it is played on the opposite ear as the bible as the oboe's role of keeping the other instruments in tune can be seen as an inversion of the abrahamic god's attempt to divide the world in the story of the tower of babel. it is perhaps fitting then that the bible fragment played was the Book of Ruth, which describes the death of the two sons of Naomi. after Naomi tells the widowed daughters-in-law to return to their homeland, Ruth states; *"Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:* *Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me."* _(Ruth __1:16__-17, KJV)_ yet this verse, that describes the will of one human to communicate with another despite a difference in culture and the severance of familial ties, is not reached in the 30 second clip played by the video. finally nightcore, perhaps the most complex of all. I could write a PHD thesis describing nightcore's unfathomably rich textual relevance to this work, but like the work itself I would not have time; the discord word limit is already forcing me to break up my analysis into multiple messages. Nightcore, a term stemming from the name of a pair of norwegian musicians, speeding up eurodance songs, that has become associated with the japanese cultures of anime and otaku. an art form that is discarded for its simple and popular premise, but that is yet inescapable exactly because of said premise; a truly revolutionary development in musical culture where the common layman can tap into our most primal and fundamental responses to music, by commenting on how significant pitch and rhythm are through a simple transmutation, despite whole genres of many pieces of music composed by many musicians that are often labelled as "sounding the same", including nightcore itself, ironically the most varied of all genres in terms of raw musical content. and yet nightcore itself only gains its reputation and link to anime girls due to the fundamental physics of the universe forcing a change in tempo to either bring a change in pitch or distortion, but of course this is because pitch and rhythm are fundamentally the same concept, yet our brains are unable to hear them as the same. is it pointless then, to attempt to communicate? is the surface level impression that this magnum opus serves little more than a cheap laugh of "funny random internet humour" the truly valid perspective, and attempting to understand this communication will do nothing if most will not bother? perhaps we can learn something from ruth, and even with death, even with silence, even when communication seems hopeless, we can still try to understand and see other perspectives. perhaps then we will see the humanity of mozart, china, nightcore, and everyone and everything created in this world, through the words of the lord. Amen
