Most useful knowledge for someone like me who has a gene that lowers my ability to process omega fatty acids. I now know to ensure I have a favourable Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio.

I was gaslit for 2 years by providers and people that i have ADHD and Autism. I never believed them, and tried getting into rare disease research, but this, Im hoping this is finally the answer im looking for. Never let people convince you that you’re neurologically ‘special’ to take advantage of u before screening for everything else. your body deserves it

From my experience functional medicine doctors charge way too much and are just gatekeepers. People go to functional medicine doctors after being waxxed by traditional western medicine. Then they get charged an arm and a leg to be talked down to

This was one of the most informational videos I have seen. I wish my western doctor would watch it and learn something. Thank you for confirming what I have felt all along. I was diagnosed 14 yrs ago with fibromyalgia which was really the triad of hashimotos, adrenal insufficency and gut issues IBS and SIBO however western medicine doesn't agree with me because certain labs like TSH didn't show it but my symptoms always have. A lot was triggered by my PTSD and wrong diet. I am eating a high fat carnivore diet and supplementing with iodine for the last 30 days and I have already cleared my IBS and SIBO. Eating butter when I get stressed has dramatically helped my adrenal insufficency.

Get rid of sugar from your diet. And I'm not referring only to the pseudo-foods people think of with added sugar, like cake, cookies, ice cream. All carbs are broken down into sugar in order to be utilized by the body. All carbs. Grains, dairy, fruit, root veggies. It's all sugar. If someone wants to get rid of any thyroid problems, just ditch the carbs. Works like a charm.

(an informed hypothesis) Blood sugar spikes (among other factors) wash out the vascular endothelial glycocalyx. This is a structure that is not shown in medical textbook illustrations. It is only recently that it has been visualized in vivo. The glycocalyx acts as a shield for the endothelial layer. It is also a 'flow sensor' and controls the release of Nitrous Oxide (NO) for BP control (vasodilation). It takes the glycocalyx multiple hours to recover. With the shields down, the endothelial layer is exposed to toxins, oxidized products and LDL remnants. Continuous consumption of carbohydrates never allows the glycocalyx to fully recover. It is a one-two punch, a binary explosive. Excess inflammatory factors *WHILE* the shields are down. If you study just one factor, you might miss it (as was clearly stated ~ 400). Why would we have such a fragile structure for these mechanisms that protect us? The flight-or-fight response. "Adrenaline (later, cortisol continues the response) is released which triggers the release of blood sugar (glucose) and fats from temporary storage sites in the body. These nutrients flood into the bloodstream, supplying energy to all parts of the body." The glycocalyx is washed out, preventing the release of NO and causing blood pressure to rise as heart rate and blood flow increase. That gets the energy and hormones to every nook and cranny of every capillary. This does increase our exposure to the {toxins}, but _Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures._ Being in that state chronically (for one example, sleep apnea) is deadly. thanks the video!

I find this subject really interesting, I am a qualified OPD was a band 6 but left that to retrain in multiple therapies and work as a complementary therapist CNHC registered. Love to learn functional medicine as it has worked for me and I am so passionate about it. Wondered what qualifications you need to do a course in functional medicine? This was very interesting to listen to although it’s 7 years old. I really believe the NHS should have a functional doctor in every GP practice. It would greatly help many people in this country, as privately it is extremely expensive and out of many people’s monthly expenditure.

Hypothyroidism Hashimotos runs in my family. I noticed something was wrong with me in my teens. Things gradually got worse and 20 years later major symptoms. Got started on Levothyroxine and about 2 months later my social anxiety almost completely went away. My social anxiety was so bad before. It progressively got worse and eventually became extremely bad and noticeable. Got diagnosed with anxiety and was given medication, but it didn’t do anything. Fixing my thyroid cured my anxiety! We need more studies on this so people can get the help they need. Doctors need to be aware of the causal effect between thyroid disease and mental illnesses. Among other things I also developed weight gain, hair loss, cold sensitivity, extreme fatigue, tiredness and over sleeping. Those all went away with thyroid medication and I feel so much better.

I have had my thyroid removed due to cancer, since then I have been bouncing from hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism for the last 7 years. I know I’m a rare exception so I don’t want to discourage anybody, but I just wanted to see if anybody else might have a similar situation or any answers? It’s been hard. My next step is to try to get liquid thyroid medicine to see if I can level by better absorption.

People should be told whether you think they have funds or not, giving people the authority of a professional opinion to justify the spend is everything. Poverty is about choices between two or 100 essential demands, health is paramount and we want our health but we cannot make the selfish choice unless we are told it is necessary.

These "doctors" lost all of their credibility from making dramatic, unfounded, emotional statements driven by their dogma. The one doc saying "people looking for the easy way out". This woman knows NOTHING about obesity. The other one saying "this is going to be a hot mess". Assumptions based on their world view- not the data. Also the poorly framed comments suggesting people on the GLP medicines are not doing other things to support their health (i.e. resistance training) An assumption! People who lose significant weight PERIOD lose muscle...so of course thr resistance training should be a component for anyone losing weight. A lot of fat phobia underlying this. And the nerve of the natropathic community accusing anyone of a moneygrab??? The irony!

Epigenetics seem to make the claim that our diseases do not have a genetic component, and blaming genetics appears to be based in fraud because it is a means of making people believe they cannot change their health issues, but the doctor can give you a treatment. People are realizing their diseases have a root cause, and it is mainly a poor diet, and also chemicals/drugs/shots, and finally environmental exposures. You need a clean water source as well.

What did he think about food supplements? I have spent a lot of $ on them over the years since 1979, but I stopped completely 18 months ago, and I seem to be doing better. I also changed to a raw fruit and vegie diet with hydration just drinking water. I gave up all caffeine, and alcohol as well. It has been quite easy. I avoid all restaurant food, and I only eat cooked food a few times a week. If I had to guess I would say that 98% of "food supplements" are not really supplementing like we have been led to believe. To add supplements to a SAD diet is ridiculous as an example.

I am happy this psychiatrist came into my feed on Instagram while I was fuming against my inept colleagues in my gerontology class and who promote medication! I actually think the victims of prescribing and of doctors and psychologists in general need to do a class action suit against the licensing bodies… there is no other way… because we already have decades of science on what is causing illness and most doctors and therapists refuse the science snd should be held criminally responsible for preventable deaths… there is a certain type of personality that you can see among the bad doctors and therapists and then in politics, trade, finance, banking (those who destroy economies with financial speculations and order the bombing of foreign countries) : avoidant attachment style, characterized by gaslighting, denial and dissociation from body and humanity. This is on CDC’s website, but only a small Percentage of doctors consider it in their practice: “ Relationship of childhood abuse and household dysfunction to many of the leading causes of death in adults. The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study V J Felitti et al. Am J Prev Med. 1998 May.” Physiology is dictated by the emotional self, which forms in the preverbal period: “ The sustained qualities of children's emotional experiences during the first 2 years of life have a decisive influence on the way they feel, and hence on how they behave, for the rest of their lives … the developmental/epigenetic effects of early social affective experiences probably influence many higher as well as lower brain functions.” (Jaak Panksepp, Affective Neuroscience) The first environment is the uterus and the second is the Family. Plus you carry the legacy burdens (the trauma of your ancestors - as per UCLA psychiatrist Daniel Siegel, up to 7 generations, from research done so far). There are ways of removing bad parenting from the nervous system but the mainstream hydra promotes cognitive behavioral modalities, as if the cause were cognitive and not three levels deep into neuroception or the unconscious perception of the environment by the autonomous nervous system as safe or dangerous, interoception, emotions, feelings: brainspotting, Deep Brain Reorienting, Internal Family Systems, EEGer or LENS neurofeedback, Safe and Sound Protocol… No parent or grandparent etc traumatizes on purpose, but it takes very little to traumatize a developing brain… see the still face experiment at Harvard and the Family Pathways Study at Harvard (suicidality caused by an withdrawing mother; no violence is needed, just neglect).
