By 2000, the Japanese had progressed a lot on western percussion and guitar. The Ventures could thank Japan for their exposure, and Japan could thank the Ventures in turn. This is diplomacy at it's finest.

If this really was Mel Taylor's very last performance on drums before he died, he seems to be doing surprising well for the condition his health would've been in if he apparently had lung cancer. Although it seems he was no longer able to drum with his left hand the same way he usually did. I feel like he already knew about the condition of his health even before this performance. Yet he still bravely got up behind the drums

I remember numerous bands in Atlanta in the early sixties confidently playing many of The Ventures hits that is until they started getting requests to perform ' Slaughter on Tenth Avenue ' !😂🙏🫴😤

I feel strongly that director Tarantino deserves a nod of credit for ushering new gens of kids towards this genre with the global popularity and cultural influence that Pulp Fiction had ....i have a senior friend named Mick who absolutly goes bananas for the Ventures i enjoi listening w him on the giant Mac monitor ong live the Ventures and Mick

1981年といえば43年前、安い給料で工場勤務、子育てにと、まったく余裕のない生活の頃でした。20才前後に友人とエレキでテケテケと楽しんでいた頃とは違い、エレキギターも無くなっていました。その頃もベンチャーズはがんばっていたんですね。その頃を思い出してウルっときました。アメリカでライブするベンチャーズは初めて見ましたが、日本と違ってお客さんはノリノリですね。ベンチャーズありがとう！

I saw them in the 80's, don't remember the exact year, at a local tavern in Kent, WA, not very far from Tacoma. It was memorable. Don Wilson was funny.
