Very good that the english translation of Yamaguchi's explanation is added! I think this clip is very valuable for fellow aikidokas black belt. Yamaguchi was one of Tissiers teachers and influence. Personally i dont care about Tissiers style nor his style of teaching which focuses too much on technique, i'd prefer to see Yamaguchi himself, his style and his way of teaching emphasising blending, Aiki, etc.

(After showing Katate Kokyu Wazas in a various manner) You should move your hand gentlely like the usage of Ken line and its head. (Ken-jyutsu talking) One man, old notorious outlaw in Edo period, 19th century, said that touching your opponent's Ken and if it is solid then you can stepping in and cut off him immediately. If the Ken is soft by touching, you should run away. In that manner you have meticulous handling of the Ken with gentle touch and massive heavy effect. It also contains soft and fierce touch. Budo, Bujyutsu, is proposition of the opposite concepts in one aspect. Motion in Stillness. Stillness in Motion. It is as if Zen dialogue at a glance. We learn such aspect throughout the practice of Aikido by using your body. Then you understand that aspect and firmly recognize this antagonistic reality. Object of the Keiko, practice in Japanese, is not to acquire a variety of techniques. Its purpose is to comprehend such dynamic aspect throughout Keiko-Tanren-How, which stands for the method of right training and practice of Aikido. Then you understand that you can practice Aikido not only by using hands but also any parts of your body. Then you understand that you can practice Aikido not only by using hands but also any parts of your body. Any parts and any places on the body are fine. Or grasping and being grasped are the same. Aiki is "Uke", people think, that is shallow interpretation of Katate-Tori Keiko. It is the safetiest way of method to understand such dynamic antagonistic concept. These are Katate-Tori, Te-Biki. By using your force, you think to destroy your opponent and often overreact. Then you lose every accuracy of the movement at that moment and your judgement becomes unclear in reality. The force depends on its force and the wise depends on its intellectuality. Both are not efficient enough and that dependency guide to destruction of themselves. Yet, It is better to have the force and if you have physical strength, too. But when the force to stop depend on its strongth, and the wise to stop depend on its intellectuality, they will come to work as effective as real power and intelligence.

By observation, Yamaguchi sensei had extreme center power. The big guy was crushed out of the line by him for the first contact. It seemed not cooperative or planned to do this reaction

A great and influential aikido master. and so humble, just cared for aikido, never thought about leaving the Aikikai and starting his own organisation. No ego. Endo, Tissier, just to name a few of his direct or indirect students.

You dont grasp what is happening in this demonstration. all these ukes are serious aikidokas, they are not holding back with their attack. This aikido master is a legend. countless people from japan to europeto america have trained with him and felt that his aikido was superb. His legacy is still alive today and through many of his students, his style and aproach is globally practised. So jerk all what you want, it just shows you are a jerk.

@@JustMe-vz3wd As I am a martial artist I surely do. I trained Aikido myself. It‘s a dance, nothing else. It’s simply not the way you are being attacked. Your master may be famous, he is only in his realm and his tradition. He wouldn‘t stand a chance against a serious threat. By the way, you don’t seem to be following the way of the Bushido as you are not able to discuss in a normal manner without offending and insulting people.

@@Batette I doubt if you ever trained aikido for a longer time and in a dojo with a teacher. Aikido a dance? Perhaps where you learned it, or your interpretation. You are like those dumbos who ridicule warhol and his "soupcans", with a "that aint art, my little sister can do better." Well, if you want to show your ignorance you just did. "against a serioys threat" I tell you, any 400 pound sumo wrestler beats any mma athlete in ten seconds. With "serious threat" what do you mean? a schoolboy fight with fists and kicks? Mma ? (=sports fighting, little to do with solving real life conflicts.) Its a fact that aikido is practised by soldiers, police, and other profesional people. Its a fact Morihei aueshiba was a decorated soldier. He defenitely didnt create a "dance", my dear ignorant friend. Fine if aik9do isnt your style, just piss off and go to channels of fighting sports that you DO like. No need to stay here and insult.

The fluidity, non-resistance, spiral movement typical of the KI, the harmonization with the KI is totally lacking, this is not AI KI DO but pseudo personal defense.

@@TheBUTOKUKAI actually it's not O'sensei's Aikido and it's not Budo at all, he brought students taught them how to be nage (Uke) for 2 years and then you will get an attacker like that. who the hell will attack you like that or grab your hand like that. he makes Aikido look stupid. learning your students how to defeat them self it's really dangerous in term of self defense.
