I wanted to do a benchmark video between Windows and Linux, but while attempting it, I learned that Proton is *still* very much a work in progress. And dual booting Linux and Windows on the same drive isn't a great idea either... To answer your questions, some games run better, and some just don't run (Especially the games with anticheat). As far as power is concerned, Windows is better in general at using less power, but Linux doesn't use nearly as many resources (There are ways to adjust TDP for Linux, but it's a bit of a process). I personally like SteamOS better because it's a better handheld / mobile experience and I just like the way it feels.

This method worked for me, I was able to adapt the operating system to my normal use. I installed it on my Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2021 Ryzen 7 5800hs RTX 3060 6gb Mobile 24GB of RAM 3200mhz SSD 512GB The idea of using SteamDeck mode is to be able to adjust the TDP of the processor since it uses the "ryzenadj" tool which works perfectly on the laptop. Now I can play God of War (2018) with a 12W TDP and thus be able to control the temperature of the computer with high graphics and with temperatures of only 70 degrees at a stable 60FPS. The only problem is that I went from having a battery of 5 to 6 hours of use to only 2 and a half hours. I guess I'll wait for some driver and kernel update. Unfortunately, Windows currently works better at manually adjusting CPU temperatures and modes to be able to control both the TDP and the fan speed and manipulate the GPU clock frequencies. I don't know if the same thing happens to you with the battery and it drains it. Greetings!!!
@dr.download3 ай бұрын
Yeah I actually just uploaded a video showing how to adjust TDP for Intel systems. While SteamOS does work, the software / drivers are still in early stages and still need work. With all the crap Microsoft keeps pulling I have a feeling progress will only continue.

How do you get discover on this build of Linux and how do you get quick settings to work
@dr.download2 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response, but discover is not longer included in KDE distributions (I miss it too, I used it a lot), so to download apps, I just look up the name of the app and then add 'flatpak' to the end of the search in a browser. That should take you to the flatpak website where you can download what you looking for. As for quick settings, on a keyboard, it should be CTRL + 1 or if you're using a controller, on an Xbox controller, it's Xbox+A. For PlayStation I think it's PS+X, and on Nintendo, it's Home + B.

1 - To show the console, you can either add Konsole as a non-steam game from desktop mode, or you can go to game mode and type CTRL + ALT + F2 2 - I don't have much experience with GOG but I would recommend looking up how to do it on a steam deck because the process should be very similar 3 - Delete any software that switches the primary GPU. It should do that automatically. Update your PC to make sure drivers are updated. Finally, to make sure that your GPU is being used in game mode, enter console and type 'nvidia-smi' and make sure your GPU has a process called 'gamescope'
