I love the way you have explained this book. Matt and Mete has worked on this beautiful colourful book for a long time and you have reviewed it so well. congratulations to them both and I'm happy to see the deserved attention it's getting and to recognise our local Writers and Illustrators is absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much Steph.

I love the inclusion of the Indigenous place names, I enjoy learning the traditional place names myself and teaching them to children. I love it because it's a way that we can keep the different languages of the Indigenous peoples alive

Those look so pretty! But I think the matte black pocket book editions were my favorite. I regret not buying the physical copies when those first came out... I might get these ones 😂

Hi there. Interested to know if there are multiple illustrations throughout (helpful for younger kids) such as the glimme, or far less/none such as the other series?
@kidlitjoy3 ай бұрын
No, there are maps, but no other illustrations. It's a middle fiction novel, probably best for 9/10+ year olds.

🌻🌼🌷🌺🥀🌹🏵🌱🪴🌲🌳🌴💮🌸🌵🌾🌿☘🍀🍁🍂🍃 I have only just found you channel, because I am doing a review on the book 'the garden of broken things' for my university degree. I really like the way you present, and that you talk on Australian books, being Australian and an educator myself, this is a great way for me to learn about new books. My 2-year-old daughters' favourite book is 'kissed by the moon.' not sure if you've done that one already, but thought I would still share ♥

You have some great suggestions here, I never thought to use Wombat Stew for Halloween, I love that suggestion, such a fun book to read aloud, children love singing the song in the book with me. I have two recommendations for Halloween books, Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson, its always a hit with children, especially at this time of year. The second book, isn't specifically Halloween, but I love it for this time of year, The Magic Hat by Mem Fox. I adore Mem Fox, I think her books are brilliant, the reason I love The Magic Hat for Halloween is that you can relate the magic hat in the story, that turns the people in town into different animals, to dressing up in costumes for Hallowen, it can lead to a discussion with the children about, what they are going to be for Halloween or creative ideas for costumes.
@kidlitjoy3 ай бұрын
Yes, I love both of those books! (Didn't even think to put them in this video... will add to them to the list for next year!) I used to use The Magic Hat all the time when I was teaching Prep. Mem Fox is an utter gem of a writer.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but could you tell me if this series takes place in the same world as Deltora Quest (and the other series)? I want to get theses books, but I want to know if they're connected in anyway.
@kidlitjoy2 ай бұрын
I'm honestly not sure as I never read Deltora Quest (I came to Emily's work much later). They certainly haven't been marketed as connected to that world.
