I remember this commercial around 2006 /2007 when I had cable TV. I saw this on NY1. The uneasy repetition of DOOR/THE DOOR/CLOSE THE DOOR drives home the importance of doing that when a fire breaks out. A man's voice narrates about three home fire incidents which could have prevented the tragedies that resulted from not closing the door. I never forgot it, and I am glad it's here on You Tube. Please bring this psa commercial back on all broadcast channels. Especially following the tragedy in the Bronx apartment yesterday morning. My heart and condolences go out to the families and victims. 😪😪 P.S. I forgot to mention many thanks, FDNY, for making this psa!

No it's liberal bullshit. And quite frankly public good nonsense designed by liberals to hear their arrogant "bro"-hating "Friends"-watching The WB-loving CBS-loving "Seinfeld"-hating liberal asses speak. Anyone with common sense knows to close the door. This is a BS PSA. But it was on a beastin' black news network, that was from the parent of UPN, Warner Bros.. So I can tolerate it lol. It comes off more funny than arrogant in retrospect. So the guy I can tolerate him. He doesn't seem that "Friends"-loving compared to the liberals you see on ABC, CNN, etc..

I have been retired from the fire service for many years now and I will agree, even on the worst day the fire service is still the greatest job on earth! If I could I would climb back on an engine company today! Allen Portman, Retired Firefighter (Captain)
@JB917105 жыл бұрын
2:45 Excuses! The iconic fall back for why a fire department Can't get the job done. It's Quality not Quantity. It's a strong work ethic, not machismo. It's responsibility not heroism. The American fire Disservice does not know what the job is and all the videos on KZbin prove it. You don't approach the job by thinking about Rescue, Saving Victims, Getting them out of the house! Your First thought has to be PROTECTING THEM! If that means you vent the windows at fire rooms and extinguish the fire from outside Before an entry team can get dressed and get the door open, then that's what you do. You not only protect the victims by eliminating the threat and lowering the temperature by 1000 degrees when you eliminate the flames, you give the fire fighters an opportunity to get in safely and get them Safely out Fast and Safe water on the Visible Burning Material. You job is to eliminate flames, not go inside to play with them. 3:36 Attitude! The American fire service has the wrong attitude and description of this JOB! That's it! It Is A JOB, Not an adventure! This is what every fire fighter and officer should be basing the Job on. "Stop The Threat as Fast and Safe as possible while using the Least Amount of Water." Now THINK long and hard about each of those Capitalized letters. You approach every situation like it is You, Your Family and Your Possessions! STOP The Threat! What is the Threat at any fire? What causes everything that is bad. Combustion = Gasses = Flames = Heat!! What do we use the most to eliminate Combustion? Water! So it seems the best way to protect victims, fire fighters and the structure is to eliminate the Combustion. FAST and SAFE! If you see Visible Burning Material when you arrive, you extinguish the burning material. If it is outside the house like a garage, you use whatever tool that applies water the Fastest and most effective! Not the most Fun! Not your favorite toy! If the fire is inside a room, you break the windows at the fire rooms to open a direct venting location to the exterior and apply water to the burning material! You have just lowered the temperature by 1000 degrees in a few seconds. The vast majority of fires are in residential dwellings and every room in a house or apartment has windows. So where ever the fire is, it will most likely be visible. If you want to get more smoke out of the house, you check wind direction and open more windows after all VBM has been extinguished. Opening windows can me done Fast and Safe from the exterior in street close if necessary. Water can be applied to the VBM in street close if necessary. So once the pump is activated and the onboard water is ready to flow, there is No reason why VBM can't be Quickly and Safely eliminated. There is NEVER a better reason to climb on the roof of a BURNING BUILDING to vent heat and smoke than just opening windows and applying water! LEAST AMOUNT of WATER! Why? First of all, it makes you THINK of where every drop goes and what it does. It makes you THINK about turning off the nozzle off when you have eliminated the threat. It makes you THINK that you could run out at any time! It makes you THINK about unnecessary water damage. Enough said because that pretty much covers everything. 90% of these motivational speeches are BS. K.I.S.S.

Studies are showing us our victims are not dying from thermal assault, but being overcome by toxic gasses. Therefore the best thing for any trapped occupants is to be removed from the toxic environment as soon as possible. The only way to reduce the toxic doses is rapid search and removal. There is a reason fire ground operations are coordinated; search, fire attack, and ventilation should happen simultaneously and be coordinated with one another, all in an effort to save THEM.
@JB917102 жыл бұрын
@@dannyp8056 "Studies"? How much Studying do you need to understand that the gasses, which fill the structure long before the flames do, will reach you before the flames? The USA fire disservice couldn't coordinate their lunch break. Anybody with the ability to THINK Responsibly would know that you said his backwards. "search, fire attack, and ventilation." You Vent the Fire Room Windows first because you can do it from the exterior. You apply Tank Water to the Visible Burning Material through those windows. Then, when an interior crew can be assembled, get fully dressed and get the door open, they can go into a much safer environment where they victims and the firefighters are protected from the spread of the fire. The interior temperature in the fire room drops by 1000 degrees once the flames are removed and temperatures continue to drop as more water is applied. Your JOB is not to go inside to Play hero, your JOB is to Protect the victims and the firefighters by eliminating the THREAT! Before you can even get through the door, you can eliminate the immediate threat. If you don't, then you are standing around doing nothing while you take the time to do your Hero thing. Do you bring a fire blanket inside to cover a victim to Protect them against the radiant heat that YOU are protected from? The heat that you allowed to exist while you Played The Hero? Does your SCBA have a Buddy Breather to give them the same fresh air that you are breathing? Don't talk to me about your heroic search "To Save Them" while you ALLOW the fire to continue and threaten the victims.
