You could write Godzilla out of this script and still have a good movie. The treatment of Godzilla pays homage to the roots of Godzilla and its original cultural significance, but also goes way beyond that.

What makes "Godzilla Minus One" so refreshing is that it's Japan's second full-length feature with a CGI Godzilla, and every appearance of the monster leaves a significant impact due to the havoc it wreaks on the beloved characters. In contrast, Hollywood's Godzilla films often feel like mere animated monster brawls, which only provide limited entertainment for me.

Actually it was geese who suggests it in the LN. He tries to convince Elinalise to do it and she refuses because it goes too far for her. Betraying not only Cliff but Sylphy too. Not even Rudeus could have coped with that, she thought. The rest of the group stopped that line of thought but Roxy felt differently.
