Dude don't get me wrong building your own stuff is great but the reasoning tho.... Majority of human existence ppl be like: let's do this together because we really on each other and let's use every helping hand we have. Planing those things flat looks like so much work and I appreciate that you mentioned how much it really was. I've seen people use slab jigs and a router and they made it look easy

Single beam is NOT wide enough. Wise decision to go with two. (Although you could have jointed them just as easy and it’s FREE)

Could have taken that bore and counter bore a little deeper for the lag screws and covered them up. Looks great though.

Oooh lag bolts on that beautiful table. Now replace them with oversized walnut dowel rod then flush cut and sand 👍

Why not mortise and tenon it? For one they are fun and two it’s a joint that won’t move. Those lags will loosen over time
