Building a circular house in Panama. 10 meter diameter. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen & living area. And the same upstairs. I put the stairs outside. Still need to put the roof on top in November. Ceiling height is 3 meters.

Nice. Build shell, easy build, tongue in groove wedges. parts premade, ready to assemble. Relatively lite weight, dense styrofoam-like material. Love all the amenities. Luxurious. Very practical building shape, tongue in groove assembly. How many square meters on 2nd floor? Also would have liked to see arched doors & windows, more like an igloo in nature with the rest of this round house. Purely esthetics. Also, once coatings on, how fire resistant? Turnkey price?

It is an 8 meter diameter domed house (~150m2). The installation of such a dome with all amenities can cost from €80,000 to €150,000. Everything depends on the price of selected materials and organized work.

Why don’t you stagger the blocks? Seems like it would be much stronger when staggered.

Great question. Only this is impossible, due to the specifics of element production. Dome elements are made by cutting polystyrene with a hot string under tension. This means that the elements have straight surfaces, and it is impossible to install a straight element on the breaking point. And the strength is sufficient, because it is still a monolithic structure.

The most stable dome design is without extension. It is best when the dome is completely symmetrical. Therefore, we do not have such options that come with an extension.
