Prior to overlay we do necessary for depth patches on the deck and parapet wall. My question is has anyone seen a start up company that uses the hydro blasting method to knock out the full depth patches? In Illinois our spec for pressure is 16,000PSI, we had a section on the bridge deck that was to be removed so we asked the hydro company if they could blast through it to see if the bars would be damaged. Surprisingly they were not, if anything they were cleaned off perfectly, ready to be reincorporated into the Rehabilitation of the bridge, the edges of the patch were less damaged compared to jack hammering leaving the surrounding concrete significantly more sound and undamaged not to mention it would cut down on time. If anyone finds this interesting give me a reply. I’m currently looking into this and would love to hear someone else’s thoughts

If Utah can't change their zoning laws and create more mixed development, people won't use this and it will be massive waste. It feels like a way for Utah to say how pedestrian friendly they are, while not making anything useful. The bike lanes here are a good example, half the cities have bike lanes that lead and connect to nothing, All it does is push up the numbers of bike able streets while not making it worthwhile for anyone to actually bike it.

Make more of them. The off ramps around the new Davis corridor should be round abouts. None of these two way or one way stops. Roundabout would be so much more efficient. Look at 400 N Farmington. It gets backed up during busy times at the one-way stop.

Terrible video, doesn't differentiate between normal merging and zipper merge. Sure you say take turns but it doesn't communicate that visually. The traffic should be at a stand still. Clearly someone said make a video, the video maker didn't understand and the person requesting it just went with it.

This is a crock of poop. Merge immediately upon discovering the lane is going to end because if you travel all the way to the end you have to STOP and wait for someone else to STOP to let you over. What happens to all the traffic that's in the travel lane that's behind the car or truck that stops to let you over? They have to stop too.
@welcometothejungl3
@welcometothejungl3 3 ай бұрын
"Merge immediately upon discovering the lane is going to end" And that's what every car behind you is going to do as well I'm guessing? Congrats, you just zipper merged but at a point hundreds or even thousands of feet before the lane actually ends, causing congestion for miles.
@TONY...GTB6
@TONY...GTB6 3 ай бұрын
@@welcometothejungl3 wrong. When people are courteous enough to let others in the zipper merge ahead of time the traffic will continue to move. If someone has to stop to let another over EVERYONE stops. I've seen it thousands of times from the seat of a tractor trailer so I have a clear view of what's going on. This idea of merging at the end of the lane won't work in practice only in the imagination of people who really don't have a clue.
@jeremiahwise2076

Part of the reason stop signs and stop lights are effective is because they make other drivers able to know and EXPECT what you will be doing, making everyone much safer. The zipper merge is objectively better because you KNOW what they're going to do, and when. Your style leaves everyone with confusion, and results in different cars speeding up or slowing down to try to position themselves appropriately for a maneuver that they don't know when or where will happen. Stop signs are placed immediately before cross lanes BECAUSE its the absolute final point. Zipper merge is done for the same reason. Its the clear and obvious point. Nobody argues that stop signs are stupid because as you get closer to a cross lane it becomes more dangerous to stop because you suddenly HAVE to stop or cause an accident. Imagine if we didn't have traffic lights or stop signs, and now it was up to drivers to simply stop at any point before a cross lane before proceeding. Give things some thought.

@@jeremiahwise2076 I've given it 22 years of thought driving commercially. I've seen it thousands of times. People drive to the end of the closed lane after passing a mile of traffic and want you to stop and let them in. I leave enough space for people to get in front of me we'll ahead of the lane closure but they usually don't want that. They want to get ahead of as many people as possible. Those people will continue to wait if I can help it

@@TONY...GTB6 The only person without a clue here is you dude. Argue with the study all you want but I'm siding with it and not some random tony from the KZbin comments section lol. "When people are courteous enough to let others in the zipper merge ahead of time the traffic will continue to move" hahaha. In what world does traffic continue to move when two lanes are forced into one? If everyone merges right at the sign telling you the lane will be closing, how is that any different than just merging when the lane closes? Are you incapable of seeing it's the exact same thing as the concept you're rejecting, just hundred or thousands of feet sooner?
