Going to a MDF track would be nice, you could put in more accurate cornering lines for the lanes and close up the distance between them (that would eliminate 1/24 scale) your at a tipping point, think of all the work you’ve put in on this layout, is it worth starting all over again. Please don’t take the Mazda out of the room. Just center it on the wall it’s on, if you can. And lunch king has a layout that’s unbelievable.

liking the pit area stuff, never got into the scenic side with the stuff I had (always had to be easy to take down again), adds a lot to it as for lap timing, I built my own, that was for digital so was amusing, a basic "just count and time laps" thing isn't that hard to do, some sort of infrared beam sensor in the slot for the blade to cut wasn't that hard to do. once you have it can do whatever with it, a small Arduino type board will do two tracks easily, some of the marginally more advanced boards (still under a fiver) can do many more. either have that drive a screen or talk to like a Raspberry Pi Zero talking to a HDMI screen

only done slot car tracks with access on at least three sides so far, always a problem given how flipping big some tracks can get. the access hole idea is good.. add a marshal who can be down low or otherwise where sight doesn't matter. nice looking track too, simple but fun

Have you thought about going in the opposite direction as well. That way you could see that blind corner a little bit better and you enter the corner at a lot lower speed to reduce coming off.

Personally if it was me I'd have the track all the way around the shed to the wall having a duck under section at the door and two helix sections in the corners to access a second layer this will maximize the space for track and give easy access to storage under the layout + due to centrifugal force the cars will not go far and be easy to collect and you will have the player space in the middle.
@Scalehectic8 ай бұрын
That idea would work, but i think I would get dizzy 🤣🤣
@LOBmcguire8 ай бұрын
I feel for your limited space. You may need to consider a two lane digital track for more cars. Your track is vary cool.

Yeah a digital track is an option but I don’t like the idea of having to put a chip in every car

I like the tight space layout, i would consider no bridge. I would look at centre corridor repeat long straights/ mirror with short straights to make a double J track. The wall tracks both sides can be high with centre straights low. Maybe the short straights on the left you keep the turn tight with a kick to widen the space up the middle of the room. You could even go a little higher with the track running around the wall and then set the lower track slightly under the high track opening the centre gap bigger and the lower straights a bit longer. I hope that makes. Watching from Sydney😃
@Scalehectic8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching, those are great ideas but the door location causes a problem for that, and I like to have an equal amount of corners in each direction making each lane a similar length, but I will think about it 👍🏻
@TitusHillRaceway8 ай бұрын
Line of sight in a tight space can be improved if you elevate two of your drivers .. Think about a box that can be placed against the wall that two people can stand on A two foot rise should work . Then you have two folks standing at floor level and two folks about a foot or two behind them but also two feet higher. I use a type of step ladder that has a small seat on top, great for kids and smaller adults. I use it myself sometimes, fun to drive from a higher perspective.
@Scalehectic8 ай бұрын
Thank you, I have been thinking about a seating position next to the track, then the next person standing and the next on a box, the 4th person will be to the side in front of the door, hopefully that will work 👍🏻
