TEN people ? why so many ? Concrete block will attract humidity and moisture leading to mold and mildew . A plastic septic tank or water tank will prevent water intrusion and is very easy and quick to install . you only need a back hoe for the hole and trench for electricity if desired . the comfort thing is a bit silly as you aren't goi g to be in there that long . if you maintain contact with the news agencies you will know if the tornado has moved away from your position allowing you to leave the shelter quickly . your shelter seems very well done but maybe overbuilt a bit ?

It never ceases to amaze me how Americans are always trying to work out how to make a buck! Having said that, this guy is 'saving' you the time and effort of having to work out all the details, by providing all the information he spent a LOT of time gathering, into a single package you can download for $$$. If you don't consider YOUR time is worth anything ... don't buy it!!

You can skip using mortar when stacking blocks and use SureWall , it will waterproof and hold the blocks together up to at least two stories. If you can set a block on another you can use it, then all you do is spread it on with a trowel ,like painting with thick paint.

This video reminds me when you make a simple search on Google like "What screwdriver brand is the best quality" First site, Answer: Screwdrivers are a type of hand tool used for the insertion and removal of screws. Screwdrivers were invented in the 15th century and have played a crucial role in industry for years. There are over 30 different types of screwdrivers.... After you scroll down through all the jibber jabber you reach the bottom and it says "sign up for $15 to see the list of best quality screwdrivers"

I think there are quite few mistakes like: The gravel bed is not thick enough, not compacted. Those blocks, I believe, are meant to be filled with concrete, not cemented together like bricks, they don't have enough surface for that. There are more things. But overall, I'd say "good job" for someone doing his first concrete build. Maybe it's a kind of a build, where it's OK to do some mistakes. It will still withstand a storm or F4 tornado, I guess.

Before I saw you were selling this video for 14 dollars I was going to bless you, saying, “May The Lord Jesus bless you for your humble and righteous attempt to help humanity survive tornadoes. Amen” Why sell it for anything? If you believe in God, why not give the video away for free? I live in Baldwin Illinois and we had that terrible tornado fairly recently that tore up that Amazon warehouse about 45 minutes north of here and tragically killed 70 people so I have been thinking I should get a shelter. Plus, I visited the Shawnee national southern Illinois for a camping trip and read about a tornado that came through there about 100 years ago that killed hundreds of people and brought great destruction to the area so I thought, “tornadoes don’t come down here often, but wouldn’t those people be alive if they prepared for them as if it is possible?” If I died in a tornado I would hope people would weep with my family and think about how to avoid losing another beloved person to a tornado. I have a question, brother, why not dig into the earth and then use a dome shaped roof over the pit? This way you wouldn’t have to use as much material for the walls, because the earth would protect you and the wind would pass over a dome shape better than a box shape. I am glad you were able to dig into the hillside and that’s good. The Bible says that God will punish evil people “suddenly, like a whirlwind…” so that’s a reminder that you don’t have much time and it’s good to have a shelter that is readily accessible. You say you gather and worship God with a church, so I would like to ask you to pray with me, asking God to have mercy on the human race, blessing us with the resources and abilities needed to build shelters for all people where they are needed, in America and abroad. Amen Peace to you

Ive heard the best way to keep a storm shelter or bunk clean is to use it as a clubhouse/hangout space. Spiders and bugs are found and removed before there are to many and you get to use it the rest of the time for fun.

You are right, you are not an engineer. You forgot the steel. A ribbon going around the perimeter is not sufficient. The rebar in any floor should have 12" OC grid of 1/2", preferably 5/8", with a layer of box wire fastened in place. Furthermore, you never placed a membrane under the slab. A membrane STOPS water intrusion into the concrete and rusting the rebar-PERMANENTLY! Although your video did not show a finished shelter, one would hope that if you planned on a burial of the shelter you would have water proofed the outside of the concrete block before burying it. Let me be clear, I am not an engineer either. However, I worked over twenty years with some of the best civil and mechanical engineers around and I picked their brains for that long. Every structure I ever built did not simply meet code, it exceeded it and still stands today after they years, in spite of hurricanes and tornadoes. Thumbs down.
