@AntonBerlin1 At this time, Texas 4000 is receiving an audit so that all of this confusion will be cleared up. Honestly, I'm not sure why any of these figures even matter though. We are all on the same team here. We're all just trying to fight cancer the best way that we see fit.

@AntonBerlin1 This is the money that was raised by each individual rider that was used for spreading the Texas 4000 mission of hope, knowledge, and charity across the US. As shown in the Form 990, the 2009 Texas 4000 team donated $310,000 to the MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Texas Biomedical Engineering Department. This is approximately 87% of the money raised by 50 college students riding their bicycles to Alaska, that was donated to help fight cancer.

@AntonBerlin1 OK let's clear this up... let's throw out some numbers from 2009, Texas 4000 raised $572,840 total for the fiscal year, of that $72,900 was raised through merchandise sales so we can subtract that out. That leaves $499,940 that was donated to the organization. A good percentage of that money (around 28% or $143500) was donated with the specific purpose of paying for exec. compensation, bike equipment, etc. That leaves around $356,440 that was raised by the 2009 riders.

Wonderful, simply wonderful, I am uplifted by the spirit of this.

I'm so glad to see you all documented your ride so thoroughly this year... I just wish I had been shooting in high definition back in 2008 when I documented our ride. Your journey looks amazing! Congrats to the 2010 team :)
