Funny how the white singer is clapping on 1 and 3 and the black woman near her claps on 2 and 4 :D

This is in response to Micheline Claes' comment, Miriam Makeba NEVER recorded this song, "Iko Iko" was ORIGINALLY recorded as "JOCOMO" by James 'sugar boy' Crawford of New Orleans which was later recorded and released by New Orleans' Dixie Cups as Iko Iko. I'm FROM New Orleans and i know the history of this song personally, this is one of the songs i would sing along with some neighborhood friends when we hung out on street corners at night as kids in the '50's.

Yes, James "Sugar Boy" Crawford wrote and sand the original and the best version then The Dixie Cups have the 2nd best version.

I was James "Sugar Boy" Crawford who wrote it and recorded the original

The original was not the Dixie Cups in the 60s'. It was James ????? and I'm drawing a blank on his (nickname ) and last name.......Capt Jack does a great version too

the original version of this comes from Myriam Makeba in the years 1960. And you cannot compare Lauper and Natalia. Two different styles;

It is possible that this is the original version, but Cyndi Lauper's voice is way better than Natalia's. (Sorry, to disappoint all Natalia's fans, but that's the facts)
