It is pretty loud on the flight deck. Definitely need the noise cancelling headsets. Most of the noise is from the design of the windows (airflow around the windows). The B-727 and the B-737 200/300s were not as loud - more sound proofing.

I've flown on military heavies for years. These planes are loud! Without the headset, you can't hear what the pilots are saying to one another. The person recording wasn't "plugged in" but if you watch the pilot's mouths you can tell they're speaking to one another.

Interesting how he's two handing it most of the way down. In the C-141, which was heavy on the ailerons, you'd two hand much of the approach but below about 500' you always had your hand on the throttles (or thrust levers depending on the manufacturer). At Delta, you always had a hand on the throttles once below 1,000 AGL, regardless of auto-throttle status. I'd expect a jet that big has hydraulic flight controls. Does the 135 use servo tabs or hydraulics? Cheers
@rambothegreat18 Жыл бұрын
This does not have any hydraulic or servo assist for the ailerons
@ShortFinal Жыл бұрын
According to the KC135-1, quote "Primary flight controls are all equipped with control or servo tabs. Control tabs are the primary means of control actuation for the elevators and ailerons. The rudder tab acts as a control tab only in the manual reversion mode of rudder operation." so yes it uses Control/Servo tabs for all primary control surfaces.
@rambothegreat18 Жыл бұрын
@@ShortFinal yes control tabs are the way the flight controls move, but there is no supplemental force to them. The only thing that is electric is the auto pilot servos which move them thru the same cables as the control wheel.

The only primary flight control surface that has any hydraulic boost is the rudder, and even that has a mechanical reversion when you turn the power rudder system off.
