Other things I forgot to mention during this already packed commentary: People were very quick to catch on with a lot of the commentary I had regarding the Transformers scene baked into this story, particularly the "Generational angle" with Rodimus and Optimus. On it's surface, it's a bit of dramatic irony how Optimus would lead a civilisation of Autobots who's entire culture revolved around fighting and demolishing their surroundings, but then be surprised when what he deemed as a happy ending (Him as unquestionable ruler, his enemies gone.) would be taken advantage of by a new generation of even more sociopathic robots who only know how to be good at violence. His complacency and ironically naivety was his downfall, expecting things to never change and for people to not move on. It's essentially a very edgy spin on how Optimus was infamously pushed aside in favour of Rodimus in the 1986 movie by Hasbro's need to keep selling product and get as many new people buying their daft wee plastic men - and the emotionally confused reaction to the fictional man-made character of "Hot Rod" being responsible for it. Hence all the lines and visuals trying to key you in on this wee connection. I think I just had a bit of a gamer moment and haven't been too pleased to see modern Transformers toys been sabotaged by "cartoon accuracy" to 40 year old animation production model sheets when we know the designers are capable of much better uninhibited toy designs. You've likely heard this argument before, but growing up in the 2000s, especially with the Bay films,(Which are ironically gathering a bit of a "geewunner" crowd of their own) I was shown the seemingly limitless possibilities of Transformers being reimagined every few years. Maybe I shouldn't overthink it though, it's a business and G1 apparently sells. Don't come anywhere near me with those G1-TFA hybrid freaks though, eugh. SG Rodimus is the first Voyagers character to properly swear! ("Damn" and "Hell" don't count you softies.) I'm not going to outright say it, but he comes out with some foul language speaking some of that Itallian he picked up. The large ROTF Ramjet body Ratchet is seen bumping into at the start of "Civil war" is technically a continuity error seeing as the same figure appears in the Voyagers anthology "The Lawman." The two series are *somewhat* connected however, Maybe that guy was one in a million and stayed consistent, no matter how warped reality was. Rodimus' gun switches midway through his encounter with Optimus - A reference to what fellow animator 360verse told me during the waining hours of TFNation 2023 that SS86 Rodimus' two rifles were a reference to an animation error in the film - How true that truly is, I'm not sure, I just took his word at face value lol While referred to as "Reflector" in the script and myself all the time for simplicity's sake - It's not explicitly stated who SG Prime's victim really is in the first part of SG. Most people will refer to him as Reflector, because *duh*, but if you want to be slavishly specific he's a Shattered glass incarnation of Spectro. I have no idea what happened to Bumblebee - How he got his injures or what happened to him after he exits stage left in SG 1, I don't think he reforms to become Goldbug because you can see his particular body in the rubble in SG 2, which takes place only hours or days after whatever final battle wrecked earth. I think they're two separate characters, but it's vague enough for you to draw your own unique conclusion of what happened off-screen. As alluded to in a few questionably canon bumpers and KZbin comments sections - Optimus did not manage to wipe out all of the original Decepticons. Shattered Glass Skywarp teleported to the Voyagers timeline. (I really hate using the word "universe" to describe relatively small scale fiction, eugh.) His teleporting outlier powers malfunctioned, like they often do, and he found himself with nothing but Decepticon-sympathising mercenaries and the banished to keep him company in a world he doesn't fully understand. I'm sure he'll be fine. Eventually. It's a purposeful touch that only Rodimus refers to Optimus as "Prime." I didn't have any sort of relevant plans for how the Matrix worked and it didn't really fit in with the sort of implied psuedo-ideology or whatever for the SG Autobots, so I kept away from it as much as I could - Maybe Rodimus knows something the others don't? Again, I'm going to be lazy and leave it for you to interpret. In the same way, I'm not sure if his real name is "Rodimus" and if "Hot-Rod" was some sort of obnoxious nickname. I don't know what came first, but he definitely prefers one over the other. The distant gunshots in the Ratchet bumper was likely Rodimus and Blaster taking out Wheeljack, as implied in a recent KZbin community post I had made - It was always the plan that when I included that detail of Wheeljack's (Slicer's?) body in the script that it was alluding to Rodimus' treacherous plot being in full effect long before the series began - His body's still fresh for goodness sake! (No clue what happened to tracks, though.) I keep misspelling "Ross Bugden", sorry. While nowhere near clearly stated - Rodimus was at one point, was the leader of the Shattered Glass incarnation of the Wreckers, before their eventual downfall. How they formed, what their history was, why they fell, I'll keep vague - just like the actual team tends to be written, both in Shattered glass and "normal" series. Sunstreaker and Kup, namedropped in the video, definitely were members in it - but to me, Rodimus and Blaster are some of the last, if final, members of the team that have survived. In my head they were some sort of underground outlaw insurgent militia that were lucky enough to be useful to the Autobots. In a recent community post, I teased some more information regarding the cryptic epilogue at the end of the series where Rodimus finds himself confronting Sideswipe in the ruins of the earth. (Just like the toyset lol) If you haven't seen it, it essentially elaborates that: Rodimus is now Autobot ruler, unanimously agreed upon as he keeps the war machine running - Which ties into Sideswipe, ex-wrecker(?) leader of the Neo-Decepticons, possibly manipulated into that position as a scapegoat to keep the war-going? Both are joined by Maximal Tribe king "Primal", who likely is nicknamed "Optimus" by Hot-Rod due to his resemblance giving the new Autobot leader a sense of smugness with his new 2nd in command. As well as "Predacon Experiment Megatron", a beastly last resort effort by the Predacon underground railroad to revive/clone the original Decepticon leader Megatron using core conscience shell programming methods - How well this turned out is unknown, this could even be a completely new character like Beast wars' Megatron. I don’t know if you should scrap any ideas but maybe put them aside and then come back to them after you’ve finished season 2 and then see motivation can be really tricky to get. I really did love this interpretation of SG bringing a lot more nuance to good character but now bad

I really do like the idea of SG Optimus kind of losing the power he had after so much hatred and destruction he caused, and the one to take it away being Rodimus, felt a little like if Starscream actually defeated Megatron except a little less 80's cheese
