If I'm using the HA925 with wing foils, what size of the new HA would you recommend? I'm currently using 4, 5 and 6m wings with the HA925.
@armstrongfoils26 күн бұрын
Hey there JP....The new HAs ride bigger than the V1s, so we suggest the HA880 would be the right option for you.
@foiling_jp25 күн бұрын
@@armstrongfoils The previous HA(v1) was quite difficult to operate until you got used to it, but what specifically has changed in the new HA(v2)?

I have the 8.0 and it's very light in the hands for a big wing. I only have one session on it, but it got me going in conditions that I never thought would work. I live in a light wind area, so this might be my go-to wing. If there were some improvements, I would have liked a longer back handle that would let me sheet out a bit when the gusts come rather than raise the wing overhead. Also, it's impossible to get this wing back into the bag that it came in. My 6.5 (different brand) comes in a bigger bag.

A pity that there's no explanation of how of what various shapes and changes actually work. Too much effusive enthusiasm. Too little explanation. No real useful advice.

Great video, one of the better vids to date on new product introduction. That new 7m wing also looks a winner for those of us that live in light wind locations

The TRUTH is simple about these boards: This shape is old technology (natives invented it for canoes). AppleTree has been doing it for a while…and it works. Unlike a ton of “pro only gear” this shaped helps everyone paddle faster and catch waves easier. BUT the big KICKER is the placement of the mast tracks; its PHYSICS. The fulcrum / balance point is moved up from the back of the board. I have two APPLETREE boards; 6’7” 19” wide and 5’1” *18.5” wide. I think Armstrong went a bit TOO narrow with 17”. Considering the board you’re used to is 20” +/- . So the take home: The larger sizes are a blast to wing and turn and get on foil MUCH faster and the prone sizes will help catch more waves and you wont have to take off in the crucial section. 98% of the foil community does NOT live where the conditions are great. The gear you want to buy is the stuff that makes your local spot easy and fun.

Good analysis. In addition is worth to mention 2 step back: 1. Increased thickness that worsen the feeling connection to the foil. 2. More swing weight by length. Anyway great overall board and good construction !

Interesting seeing the side bolt on the top plate. When I've grounded a foil and bent my Axis masts, the Axis top plate mast socket deforms right where Armstrong have put this side bolt. I suspect this will mean that if this area is over stressed, the mast will deform but not the plate.

Hi thanks for putting this video together - do I put teflon grease on the three bottom screws of the front foil?
@armstrongfoils3 ай бұрын
Hey, That is a great Question, because we are using Titanium inserts for the fuse to front foil connection, you do not need to use any Teflon grease on these screws.

Can you use a DW board for winging? I've prone foiled a few years and the cost of getting into winging is a bit high so looking for a board that can get me into more foil disciplines.
@armstrongfoils3 ай бұрын
You absolutely can. A lot of people prefer using DW boards for light wind winging as it gets them up easier due to being more efficient through the water to get to foil activation speed. It is worth noting that it won't be as stable due to its narrow width if you are considering using this for your first Wing board.

Just ordered mine from Underground Surf and Skate here in NZ. Cant wait to start my Armstrong journey. Lesgo!
@surfsurfer1653 ай бұрын
Why did you chose to go for a base plate option instead of a full mast like the carbon ones? Is there a technical issue with that?
@armstrongfoils3 ай бұрын
Great question. The separate mast top plate makes packdown for travel even more compact than if it was a single piece, and it also makes building out your quiver of mast lengths more cost effective because you end up only swapping out the vertical itself vs the entire thing. The system is super strong and stiff so you're looking at excellent performance in the water.
