In 2020 it seems that environmental issues do not concern these locos and depots at all. Can not think why this start is difficult like this. If you have a diesel car...you can start it without any smoke when it is minus 30 C ...if you preheat the system (electric or Webasto). But nice video and a bit funny too....must be sweet to the engine and exhaust system to get flames there. How many cancer causing micro soot particles were liberated to the surroundings? "Mallard" or "Sir Nigel Gresley" would not do the same amount. Should go to electric traction quickly.
