Tastic work well done you looking pretty good. I can’t be done with wallpaper on the ceiling too much but paintwork sat in the car in Portugal pouring down with rain. Can’t get on my land because it’s soaking wet and get the car stuck. All fun in Portugal 🤠👍

Sorry paomantega.I admit when I was editing I realised my hand movements where far too quickly. I thought about slowing it down in editing, but then the narration was distorted. Bearing that in mind next time I must use the camera stand, or consciously slow down when panning around. Thanks for your comments Dutifully noted. 😃

Hi Chris. I was running out of time, so Mark suggested that he seal the roof/wall with expanding foam, and I can repoint and build up the walls later, as it is a time consuming job, but one that I am capable of doing. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Deborah. I am sorry for this, but I find that by doing bits on several projects makes me feel as though I have actually achieved something at the end of my trip. If I was living there, and there wasn't such a strict time limit I am sure that I would approach it differently. If you bear with it, eventually it will all pull together and make sense. Thanks for the comment. Yes the builder's all say I make exceptional tea. I think it is the pure water (And tea bags, I bring from England). I have nearly always just filmed in and around the house, so I am trying to expand the filming and also my connections in the village.

@@portugueseutopia7039 I’m sure that in time you should get a good circle of friends. Portuguese I believe isn’t an easy language to learn but give it time and yes getting around the village (and maybe taking us on your walkabout) should help you to get into life in your locality.

@@calleiza12 Hi Don. The language is difficult especially for an old 'un like me. I am learning Portuguese, but it isn't easy. I always try to speak Portuguese, which the locals appreciate, Language isn't about being fluent, it's about being understood. I think the locals enjoy trying to help, and learn a bit of English along the way.

Great roof..we are also restoring a ruin near Viseu , with what looks like about the same size roof..what are the dimensions of your steel beams and thickness ? cant seem to find on internet..

Thanks for your kind words and interest. Unfortunately my invoice for the materials is in Portugal and I am back in England. If you are not in a panic I will be in contact with my builder next week and I can ask him. I bet he can remember off the top of his head. If you look closely you can see we had to weld 1metre to the original 6Metre length. Offered 6 or 12Metres.The thickness will depend on your final roof weight (Are you just using sandwich panels, or putting tiles on afterwards?) Will get back to you with the Beam size. Good luck with your restoration.

@@portugueseutopia7039 just sandwich..same as yours..Our span is about 6 m.. be good to know whether the beams are 1.2 or 2 mm thick...dont think they are 3mm,,...would be very heavy ..perhaps rectangular 50mm by 150mm. thank you for taking the time to reply. We have replaced some of the floors with the block system like yours...I do the work myself ..even mixing by hand when the mixer died. Partner Robyn did help bring material up to the top..(I'm 74 but still going strong) We are still trying to sell properties in South Africa..the exchange rate of R20 to I euro is a killer for us...hence we cant afford labour..

Sorry about this. When I am filming it doesn't seem that fast. When I am editing I have tried to slow it down, but as you know I do talk a lot as I am filming. If I slow it down, the narrative becomes affected. Unfortunately the rest of these videos on this visit will probably be the same. I will on the next visit really try to improve my filming skills. I do lurk about from time to time. Very interesting to see your progress, and I am pleased you have found a use for at least some of those radiators. Do not expect much by way of compost. The beasties eat everything and other things take it down into the ground. After a while plant pumpkins or melons on the top. Nice to see Ken is still his usual old self. Please give him my regards.

Hi Alan.Yes the compost bin was just a way to keep the crap wood together. Apart from good wood for burning. I don't want the wee creepy crawlies eating the house wood.Next visit I am hoping to get the woodburning stove fitted and going, to get rid of more of it. Thanks for the thumbs up. Unfortunately with having an elderly mother and father in law in England, I cannot get over to Portugal as much as I would like. I have to go with friends and family who are happy to rough it a bit. My partner wants more home comforts when she is on holiday. So I have to keep her happy as well. Hence the next video will be our holiday in Tenerife. But I am planning another visit in September. So there will be some more footage. Thanks again for your interest.
