I know its an older vid, but what tires were you running on the teton?
@kristofferrydquist838411 ай бұрын
Stock tires, but I glued them to the rims to stop them from sliding and pop two tiny holes in the rubber tread to avoid water & muck building up inside.

GOOD VIDEO, do you use mezclas? What is your C.G recomended in this plane? have you any recomendation for fly well? Thanks.
@kristofferrydquist838411 ай бұрын
1: No mixers. I find it just confuses me. 2: I put the CG about 10mm behind recommended, do dive test until weak positive stability! 3: Practice, I also used the Multiplex Simulator.

Just curious , where is Valid Sando ? I am in California and we have festivals with all Dream Flight gliders. Watching 15 to 20 Ahi's in the sky at once is a blast !
@kristofferrydquist8384 Жыл бұрын
This is the west coast of Sweden, it’s perhaps 25 miles south of Gothenburg. Across the sea is Denmark so it’s a fair bit to California. Sandö means Sand Island. Place is a nature reserve. I was actually in Torrey Pines SD a while ago and there was one guy with an AHI,the slopes were just insane. I suppose a grand piano would fly well off some of the cliffs…

Great. Which do you prefer? Ahi or Funglider?
@kristofferrydquist8384 Жыл бұрын
The AHI in the videos belonged to Seppo but we traded, so it is now mine. 😅 I’ve flown it only twice and the second time was today in pretty strong winds. I need more stick time to get the feel for it but it feels very naturally acrobatic and I hope to try it at some sand dunes soon.

@@kristofferrydquist8384 thanks. I’m trying to decide between Funglider and Ahi. I think I’ll get the Funglider for motor sloping. Then Ahi later

Good thing you don't live in the good old USA, the Federal Aviation Authority would come and arrest you for flying over 400 above ground level!
@fredtedstedman Жыл бұрын
You could build "ARCHER" mobile howitzer system on this !
I’m actually debating between these two as I want to get back into the hobby. Which would you recommend?
@kristofferrydquist8384 Жыл бұрын
They are so different it’s hard to say. I’d probably go for the Teton - cheaper, lighter, easier to work on, fits easy in the backpack and requires just a small patch of ground to be fun. Also they seem to have updated the diffs so it may survive running a 2s long-term. The small Summit is lots of fun but sort of not reaching full potential - high CG, hard to work on, fragile, lacking diffbrake, annoying dual battery setup. In the end; so many options out there the hard thing is to figure out what you personally enjoy most. 😊

How does it handle winds? has good penetration or its dragy on the slope?
@kristofferrydquist83843 жыл бұрын
It is very good for a foam plane, possibly the best I tried so far but it has no chance against my planes with fiberglass / balsa / carbon. It is faster and stiffer than the Heron and Solius, and does not bite like they do at low speed (flying like I do in this video would have stalled the Heron). I sold the FunRay when I was given an old T-Sperber 2m and flew it back to back vs the FunRay. FR is also very convenient with the stick-on wings etc. My favorite foamie is the Funglider, I even bought a spare before they discontinued it. My TopModel Swish will beat them easily though.

Looks like it has double wishbone front suspension. Did you get that from Ampro? Love your video, sweet Lunchbox!
@kristofferrydquist83843 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! The build is completely stock, the only upgrade is LED kit and ball bearings and some extra attention when building the suspension to minimize friction.

Hey Kristoffer. Thanks for getting back to me. That's good news... I plan on getting a Lunchbox and don't want to buy any extra parts outside of bearings. Okay - I watched the video again and saw the camber changes. How do you feel it drives? I'm looking for a beach basher that's fun to drive in places I won't take my Monster Beetle.
@kristofferrydquist83843 жыл бұрын
@@greeneyedscot It is probably”the worst” handler of the RC cars I owned. It understeers and bounces around without much control but it’s always fun and involving. I sold all my RC cars except this. But I love building Tamiya kits so maybe I’ll buy something soon.

Ha ha, exactly what I wanted to hear! I'm not a collector, I've decided I want to have 3 RCs. A TT02 for hard surfaces, Monster Beetle for trails & grass, and the Lunchbox for beach, mud, snow, & general mayhem. Owning and driving RCs should be fun otherwise what's the point! Cheers. 🇨🇦

Hello, what is the running time with the stock battery ?
@kristofferrydquist83844 жыл бұрын
I mostly fly planes so I sold the cars, and I did not prefer a stock setup. Forget that single NiMH, they get way too hot and deplete fast, be it brushed or brushless. Dual NiMH survives and lasts 15-ish minutes but they only go fast the first minute. I used two parallel 2s 2200 softcase LiPO from HK and would get 30-45 minutes and they pulled strongly the whole session. I bought six packs and four are still ok. There is some posts on my RCGroups blog if you search. I had lots on URC too but that site sadly went down some years ago. Thanks for watching!

Q. What's a good way to house th battery so it won't flop around inside the fusalage . .THE P1600 has a wooden frame screwed into the cockpit area. I have several velcro strips to hold her in... hope that will suffice. I also conducted a balacing test. with battery installed... she sits every so slightly nose pitched down. I'm planning to add a little trim to even her out.
@kristofferrydquist83844 жыл бұрын
I suggest you dig up my build thread on RC Groups. I relied on plain stick-on Velcro glued to the wood frame and velcro on the pack. Straps are fine too.
@mickbanks684 жыл бұрын
I picked up the Phoenix 1600 at HobbyKing super cheap .... My maiden flight in a park ended up in a tree :( Am feeling a little paranoid now.. will take her out again once I have the ailerons & elevator trimmed better... it simly pitched way too much. I guess I panicked, hit the throttle way to much, she stalled approx. 20m high, rolled over. I just pulled her nose up enough to miss terafirma... then headed to the edge of the park into a gumtree.. Took me an hour + to retrieve her as I'm not much into climbing trees these days :) Minor damage to one wing leading edge... a pressure ding. Fingers crossed she flies OK.

Been there a few times. There are species of trees that are known to eat RC planes, but some trees just wanna hug them. Good luck with the repairs and next flight!
