A sharp shard of cutting truth. A plain spoken dirge-homage to the painful emptiness of loss and the bleak inevitability of moving forward.

This is one of my most favourite songs, it is inexplicably calming and uplifting. Mary Gauthier sings straight to my soul and brings me peace, her voice could guide me through the darkest of times.

The backing vocals are out of this world and as for her violin playing it doesn't get any better than this.

I have often pondered the notion that all things are truly connected, yes, I know it's true. The stars are just the tiny glimpses of connection we're ready to feel, overwhelming to feel it all... but the truth is, sometimes those connections are torn through us as painful memory, the bullet holes in the sky.

This is as soulful as country music gets! Her voice cuts to the bone. And it opens up that aching part hidden inside. Let it bleed🩸...let it breathe🌬. Leave me be.😔 "I drink"🍺
