The larger Version is a sound very close to bongos to me. Having this handy to whip out in case Gloria Estefan and “do the conga“ comes on the radio for a quick play along would be really cool.

Hmmm. Okay. It certainly has an original sound but i think the design could be improved. The spring rattles too much. The effect of combining that with a directly-struck resonant chamber is very appealing, but that loud rattling sound is too much of a violent contrast in timbre.

Okay. This one is effectively a flexible-tuning temple block with hand drumming possibilities. But the sound is more mellow in timbre than a temple block. This one is original.

Clay drums are often completely forgotten in Western music. This is possibly one of your best designs. It offers sound combinations that might actually distinguish this entirely from other established clay drums such as the udu and the two Indian clay drums.

With so many wood block options already available, i think you've given yourself too much of a challenge here to offer any new woodblock sounds.

Not sure about this one. It has a kind of messy sound, no? Undecided

Okay, credit for this one. This does solve a design flaw in the rain stick. I wonder if you could also design a way to start and stop the sound on command. A "mute" function somehow ...

Frame drum with a loose snare. Okay. Are frame drums normally difficult to mount?
@ems76232 жыл бұрын
Well ... It's a guira with rattles. Okay. But why not just mount your traditional guira and play that with your right hand while playing a traditional rattle with your left?
@americanpercussioninstruments2 жыл бұрын
Hi EMS 76 , thanks for your thoughts, however ,the bellguiro is not only played with a different technique but I think sounds totally different. You have multiple sounds with the bells vibrating while hitting the wood combo as well as the ratchet sound when scraping the hard felt mallets across the guiro leaving the player with many different playing options. I Designed with The guiro-block with guira in mind.( kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2eYZHaNrLWeqrc )
