Did you just mask the stanchions or did you take the fork apart?
@flatwhitepaintworksАй бұрын
I disassembled the fork. You could mask the stantions, but you wouldn't get such a professional result 👍

We fully stripped the fork for the actual paintwork, the video involves a bit of photoshop trickery!

Yeah, there are actually a few clearcoat stages missed out in the video, one after the sponge effect and before the logos, and then a second before the final polish

Hi😊 May I know, what base colour did you use after the primer? Is it silver? And, is it compulsory to do base colour? Can I just do the marble effect directly on the primer coating?
@flatwhitepaintworks3 ай бұрын
Hi there, this was actually a very light green base. A white base helps with making the colours pop, but I wanted to make sure it was tinted slightly green to make sure there wasn't any pure white showing through. And it's no problem to put the effect straight onto the primer, you just have to be aware that the colour of the primer will show through in spots.

Looks pretty cool. Can I ask, why you sanding it again after the first layers and then polishing it?
@flatwhitepaintworks3 ай бұрын
Any custom job like this with lots of masking needs several intermediate clearcoat and sanding stages. If you don't clearcoat, then sand it smooth and then re-clearcoat, you will see bumps and lumps in the final finish. Clearcoat layers also help protect your work, so if you do a base effect, it's best to lock it in with clearcoat, so if you make a mistake later in the process you can just sand off your mistake, and don't have to start the entire process again.
