Thank you very much for providing comprehensive and detailed information about annual tax settlement. I feel that listeners will gain a thorough understanding of the annual settlement process for businesses established in Vietnam, particularly foreign businesses. Just a small note that Vietnam has a number of taxes applicable to businesses and this topic is about the settlement obligation at the end of the fiscal year for the Corporate Income Tax (CIT), which is one of the primary taxes that businesses in Vietnam must settle annually. Other taxes, such as VAT, License tax generally do not require finalization.

Good questions and answers! Not sure if anyone monitors these comments, but I'll throw this question out regardless. If as a foreigner you purchase a 100% local company, either outright or a 51% + share, is the IRC process a part of the M&A process? I've heard that in some cases a foreigner will acquire a local company outright, so 100% foreign ownership in the end, yet the company remains "IRC-less" afterwards, meaning the whole IRC layer was not superimposed. Is that something that can actually happen? Or does that always happen?

Your remarks are totally precise. You have unveiled the truth of the VN economy miracle. Up to these current days, I really do not know why the outsiders are so fascinating about VN economic growth even under the experts' view such as the articles of Bloomberg, Financial Times, Hong Kong Shanghai Bank, IMF, WB. Some dare to name VN as an " economic marvel " of the world. Very astonishing, as I am living in VN passing my youth through the dirty war and, more over, never an instance in my life, I have quitted my mother land even for travel purpose; thus, as a matter of course, I profoundly know my people, the political and economic system of the past and in this moment in time. Let's consider the actual facts ( Oct, 2022) : a) the whole country is facing shortage of gases, fuel of all kind; b) bank run ( Saigon Commercial Bank ) founded by the being imprisoned top tycoon of VN, madam Truong My Lan, landlord of Van Thing Phat real estate conglomerate; c) as a result, 800 affiliated companies in relation with the said conglomerate have been in the state of being frozen under police orders; d) USD and gold price are skyrocketed at the point of 700 USD much higher than that of the international trading price, e) the stock market is now stagnated, the VN index is down to the lowest point; f) bank interest rate is spectacularly going up, and no more credits issuances; g) continuously, big tycoons and high ranking officials lined up into custody; h) galopant inflation; unimaginable spreading corruption system and so on, . . . Is that the sign of a " rising star " in South East Asia, as per some occidental media's appraisal ? Even a prestigious media like BBC stated about the coming golden era of VN. Really strange, are they stupid or do they aim at another political target ? Or the propaganda of Vietnam works so well ?

You missed the forest for the trees. These things happened in every emerging economy. In fact, it would be alarming that these things don't happen, as they are the signs of a country improving itself, its economic system reaching its limitations and being changed to surpass them. The fact that you are aware of these things says something, no?

Let' s look at reality. Real estate price in VN, in particular, Saigon and Hanoi is much more higher than that of New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris. More astonishing fact, with an economy depending on export, and foreign investments, plus a bad traffic infrastructure and urban sub-infrastructrure which creates inundation everywhere in these two cities. On commercial streets, even boulevards and avenues, in the midst of rainy season, water flows up to 0.5 meter height. To conclude, a big amount of corruption money flows into the real estate asset, consequently, it artificially inflates concerned prices. The bubble burst out at any moment in short period to come.

Great job and yes what you say is spot on. One thing you did mention is the over priced visas that Vietnam is charging. People are getting ripped off in Vietnam even on the time they can stay in Vietnam as well as the price. Compared to Visa prices in Cambodia or Thailand Indonesia and also how long people can stay in those countries even the Philippines when they open. So yes Vietnam has a lot to do yet. I was living there 14 years before I came back to US in October of 2019 and got stock back here. Well hopefully I am not boring you Gentlemen and is was great to find you on KZbin. Thank You Charles.

Well done! Being a foreigner working and living in Vietnam most of the last 30+ years and where I remain now and where I have travelled extensively I respectfully submit some thoughts. The subject is incredibly complex. On the positive side now is that assuming no new egregious variants... there does seem to be a path forward and that within the next few months things can start to pick up significantly. This tragedy came upon us by way of a vicious virus that sadly has become compounded by global political divides impeding efforts to defeat it. Reminded that we always know who victims are but never do we know who potential victims are. Had the virus been managed in Vietnam the same as in the US from lockdown to vaccine rollouts then we can have expected a similar rate of casualty which given the proportion of population would have meant about 200,000 more deaths here in Vietnam than the current total. Who of our families, friends and neighbors would be among those 200,000 additional casualties?! My feeling since the beginning of the vaccine rollout worldwide is that Vietnam will probably begin to open significantly when the country has reached its vaccine goals which thankfully is only a few more months away. Getting back to pre-covid tourism levels in a restricted market will be nearly impossible with 30% of the foreign tourism market (the Chinese market) not able to travel abroad at all yet and one third to two thirds of the residents of most countries not fully vaccinated. Then with respect to people who have jobs to worry about they need to think long and hard before going on a trip that could get themselves involuntarily extended by a positive covid test. Right off the bat we have stripped out well more than half the potential market. As for domestic travel… the fact that I can’t even get my brother and sister in law to travel cross town for a full blown Thanksgiving turkey dinner is telling about remaining fear. Anyway, it would be my humble but considered opinion that to encourage travel… then assuming the vaccines and subsequent boosters are doing their job and Vietnam has vaccinated its population in accordance with its goals then to just swing the door wide open to anyone testing negative in advance of their trip. Respectfully reminded that the tourism infrastructure is huge and can not be sustained with 10% or 20% occupancy. Within my close circle of family and friends I have seen people devastated by the effects of the shut-downs and those killed by the virus. Truly tragic. But with vaccine goals met and with managed risk levels then we can just begin to live and let live full well knowing that some risk remains just the same as risk remains jumping into a car and going to the store. Hoping all the best. Like Ken who is a neighbor … I love Vietnam and want to see the country prosper.

Well there’s Omicron now. How will Vietnam react to that…
@loveaodai1003 жыл бұрын
@@skiguru99 hi there… decisions about actions going forward should at least in theory be made on the sum total of knowledge at the time of the decision. At this point in time it appears that the decision to continue opening up despite omicron will proceed given the vaccination levels attained taken together with relative risks given the the knowledge of omicron thus far. I know that was a mouthful but does try to address your question. :-)

@@skiguru99 . As usual and sensibly, wait and watch what happens in other countries. Same as now , some countries have opened slightly to rich tourists. A trickle start not a flood. Developing countries can't afford or indeed want to pay for cheap charlies.

Actually Vietnam is really good at destroying its natural tourism assets, nature tourism? Vietnam has killed and eaten all its forest animals, they are ghost forests with no sound and the few forests left are being cut down, beaches suffer from pollution or they take a nice natural beach and destroy it with concrete and a thousand hotels, Thailand manages its assets better.
@supersonicsid59303 жыл бұрын
The government of Vietnam did a fantastic job trying to keep this virus at bay. The problem has been with the lateness of the vaccination program. Things were pretty good up to 7 months ago and then we took a massive hit . Even now in Nha -Trang it’s not good . As for the tourists industry it’s been none existent for the past 20 months. It breaks my heart to see how’s the city has deteriorated I and practically all tourist businesses have gone . It’s like a ghost town unrecognizable and broken.
