Hi! Which case would you say is better, this one(l’etoile), or the hightech version? I’m not sure which to buy or if there is a difference.
@GreatViolinCasesАй бұрын
They're the same in terms of protection. The L'etoile case is the Hightech case, but with an extra layer of genuine leather on the top shell. So the only difference with the L'etoile case is that top shell design.

Will it be able to fit my bon musica shoulder rest with my other stuff I need
@GreatViolinCasesАй бұрын
The accessory pocket (with the lid) can fit a Bon Musica shoulder rest. It should be able to fit other items as well (cleaning cloths, rosin, etc.). Probably won't be enough space for a tuner and Bon Musica.

I wonder if you got a defective one? I’ve heard other reviews of the Amazon’s ones and they don’t have these issues. Sounded great on the others. This is just sad. 😢

Is there a space inside to hold your notes?
@GreatViolinCases2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, no. There's no sheet music pouch in the case. Gewa has a cello case carrying system that does have a zippered compartment for sheet music. But the case itself doesn't have a pouch (only the small accessories pouch).

@@GreatViolinCases Thank you! After doing some more research I realised that it's not a common feature in hard cases. That might be the one thing I will miss about my cello bag. But the carrying system looks like a great addition!

hello! i have a question, does it fit the pirastro korfker shoulder rest? this is my biggest concern
@GreatViolinCases2 ай бұрын
Yes, the velcro strap under the neck of the violin has quite a lot of space (unlike most velcro straps that are along the side of the case). So the Korfker shoulder rest shouldn't have a problem.

which one do you prefer, slim or contour?
@GreatViolinCases3 ай бұрын
Personally, I prefer the contoured. I use a shoulder rest, so I would use the shoulder rest velcro strap in the contoured case. The slim looks more unique, but it doesn't have space for a shoulder rest. IF I didn't use a shoulder rest, I would prefer the slim. Just because the shape is more unique.

Yeah so.. I bought a Vangoa for about $110. It sounds amazing! I don't have any of these issues. It required some work to set up. Mostly, the bridge needed to be whittled down quite a bit to get the action right. Strings were impossibly high but that was easy to dial in. Once the the strings were broken in, it stays in tune perfectly well, only accounting for wide temperature variations. I did get a separate bow and rosin. Probably could use some better strings; G string is a bit floppier than I would prefer. Headphones that came with it are actually quite decent. It came with a typical case and two extra sets of strings. But none of those things are the violin. I would expect to polish it a bit for a hundred bucks. The built in electronics are good. I did upgrade by adding on an additional second-stage amp board and a speaker, a delay/reverb board, and a bluetooth audio board to a drone / backing-track / drone etc. through from my phone. It also came with a very discrete digital tuner that has settings for violin, cello, guitar, ukelele, and chromatic, and it works really well and can just stay clipped on there without being obnoxious. I love it! Minus some other practical and aesthetic alterations, it looks exactly like the one you have there. I would recommend a left-hand version thoubh if you are a normal right-hand player. The side with the double arches does get in the way a bit, so I may grind down the top a bit to give a bit more wiggle room as it's a pretty narrow angle between either the next string or the middle of the arches where they come together. I play left-handed, but I foresaw this potential issue on my E string, so I bought the right-hand version and a lefty chinrest and set it up left-handed. It is quite resonant, but quiet enough to practice. The stock electronics were great with an external amp. No hiss, buzzing, etc. although if your cell phone is too close it may pick up a little chatter. Pocket distance is fine to avoid this entirely. All in all, I am really happy with it. It's not a Rolls Royce or a Strad, but for an economy unit, simply filing the nut down to suit should be all you really need to make it sound about 5 times the price, at least. Replace the strings and accessories and it would likely add a couple more Franklins to your sound. It also came with a shoulder-rest, btw, but I don't use one. As far as the pegs not staying, that's either damage or a defect and you should RMA then set it up properly it so you can give it a fair review. They wouldn't sell at all if that was normal. That aside, violin is fine. It just needed the bridge set up. I can't imagine how the pegs could not stay when you push them in. Maybe a crack?

Hi, I'm hesitating between the gewa novita 3.0 and the Yamaha YEV which are both around 800 euros. The YEV has more reviews on the internet due to the very well known brand but the novita stands up well because it's active for the same price. Do you have any advice for me? thank you. :)
@GreatViolinCases5 ай бұрын
Great question. The Gewa Novita is going to have a fuller tone (keep in mind, this is definitely more personal preference). Especially the bass notes. They sound fuller. On the 5 string Novita, the C string almost sounds like you're playing the bass. Some musicians like that, some don't. The YEV is a great "go-to" option. But it's not going to sound as full, rich and deep as the Novita.

Even though if it says "black carbon" not "carbon look" on the high-tech oblong case is it still just the look or is it actual carbon fiber.
@GreatViolinCases5 ай бұрын
It's just the look. Bam doesn't make carbon fiber cases (which is a little confusing, since they refer to the color of the case as "black carbon" / "silver carbon" etc. They purposefully avoided carbon fiber to create a hardshell case that is more temperature-resistant.
@andrewkatz24 ай бұрын
@@GreatViolinCases also another question does the case come with a cover for the instrument inside
@GreatViolinCases3 ай бұрын
@@andrewkatz2 Unfortunately, no. Bam cases don't come with violin blankets. Those are sold separately. Though we would recommend exploring other options. Bam violin blankets are really nice (100% Thai silk), but they're not cheap. There are quite a lot of good looking / high quality violin blankets on Etsy as well. More options, better prices.
Wish you would have show close up of the white one as thats the one I'm looking to purchase 😮

I have 2 BAM Hightech Violin and 1 Viola cases. The biggest issue is that these shiny outer ABS layer picks up paint from walls like magnet. At gigs, we often have to store our cases in storage room next to white walls, which picks up paints very easily and very difficult to remove. Magic eraser is also not an option as it does remove the paint but will dull the shiny surface of the case. How does the Supreme polycarbonate outer layer fare with regards to this issue? I am in the market for a new case. Thank you.
@GreatViolinCases8 ай бұрын
Great question! The Supreme case is quite unique in that the exterior layer is 100% polycarbonate. It doesn't have a shiny / glossy surface either, and it's slightly more textured (except for the white Supreme cases, these are smooth surfaces). But you shouldn't have to worry about the shiny surface being dulled, since it doesn't have that glossy surface like the standard Hightech cases do. It's generally easier to clean as well, since polycarbonate is more scratch-resistant. Whether the surface will pick up paint like a magnet, this we don't have enough information. However, based on all the Supreme cases we have sold, we haven't received any negative feedback about the case picking up paint from walls.

Thanks a lot for this video. I have been looking for a case that stay a bit higher to carry by bike. I have a child´s chair on the back on my bike so it doesn´t fit a violin case on my back, but theorethically, these cases from Gewa would be high enough. Do you have any experience or feedback from customers about riding a bike with these cases?
@GreatViolinCases9 ай бұрын
Good question! We haven't had too many musicians asking us about violin cases for bike rides, so we don't have the best answer. But theoretically, yes. They were designed for sitting down. So imagine sitting in subways, busses, etc. The case would be higher on your back, so it would be more behind your head. Theoretically, that should work better for bike riding as well. This video by Gewa also has a few shots of musicians carrying the case on their backs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaDXkKiPgLt6q5o

Hello! I am self taught and working to learn Vivaldi Summer on my own - if I can achieve this, I am going to treat myself to a nice case; I've had a $60.00 student grade one for 4 years haha and I feel my lovely violin deserves better <3 I was wondering, can a bon-musica shoulder rest fit in the compartment as well? Was curious, in case I don't like using the rest strap. Also, will my 4/4 violin fit? I know all violins differ slightly in size. I'd hate to spend almost $400 and it not fit correctly. Thank you! :-)

Yes! The accessory compartment is large enough to fit a Bon Musica on this 1060 case. And these cases are designed specifically for 4/4 violins. So it shouldn't be a problem.
