I started boating on my own at the age of 9 years old. I don't know why is it so surprising to see a young person do the same. As long as you observe the rules and respect the waters there is always a great chance that you will be back safe. Always have your communication and emergency equipment ready and be safe out there.

My son was coast guard certified by 12 years old after being captain of the family boats since he was 6 under my watchful eye. Today he knows exactly what to do in any emergency and any water condition.
