"Keyboard warriors." John, you're not above criticism. When you bear the name "Christian" you're expected to bear it out in your life. I don't care if you smoke cigarettes, use the n-word, whatever. What I care about is that you may not understand the gospel. I am criticizing your beliefs, not you.

What about Christ? Are you a theist (someone who believes in God) or are you a Christian (someone who has received the gospel and walking in the light? 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe-and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Jas 2:19-20 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. 1 Jn 2:6.

you can't belong to the church until you believe. 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. The Fellowship of the Believers 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:37-47.

What rap artist’s present a perfect lifestyle? I understand there are a few in the Christian community but outside of that? I would say the majority try to present their sin and wrong as right. How they treat women, use drugs, kill, lie, cheat, etc..

I think the issue for those who really love do love Christ but would prefer not to take the label has to do with marketing more than anything. Just by explicitly labeling something anything closes the door to some people. Think about how many people are not willing to take in something because of their preconceptions of it; even further think about the way algorithms work. One can completely miss the people one says they are trying to reach without proper marketing, whether it be the church or the world or both. The word Christianity itself has picked up a stigma. Would it be wrong to evangelize someone and not speak once of Christianity but call it "The way" and reveal to them that the way is Jesus Christ, just thinking outside the box here. Or maybe it's not all that out of unorthodox? Jesus himself chose to play it low key at times so as not to draw unwanted attention depending on the context he was dealing with for the sake of the mission, check 'Mark 3:7-12.' Music is supposed to represent culture and we tend to label it accordingly. Christianity is not a culture, though I feel like in some places and circle is has become one. Labelling a rapper a Christian rapper doesn't really make sense as Christianity is not an aesthetic, it has many aesthetics. If we were talking rock would we call an artist a Christian punk rocker? How about a Christian soft rocker? Lol I'm sure u get what I'm saying, it just too long. An artist should be labelled based on their aesthetic. Kevin gates and Lupe Fiasco are not labeled as Muslim rappers as much as they practise islam. Kevin is labled as a trap rapper and Lupe a conscious rapper. I'm a street evangelist from Toronto and I definitely know how to and agree with overtly preaching the Gospel. At the same time, when it comes to the music that I am working on right now not all of it will be blatantly Christian. Though some of it will be, I really am not trying to force anything. And I definitely know that we are called to be sheep in the midst of wolves and crafty as serpent yet soft as doves. Cutting up ppl constantly with your sword(the word) is definitely not how you wanna evangelize; at least not all the time, not it music and definitely not when it comes to business. At the same time Jesus said to be sheep in the midst of wolves so that definitely doesn't mean to assimilate but it may mean to be perceived as one even if believers don't get it. It would also really suck if believers baited out someone who was doing this through their comments. So many of us over value those who seem to be leaders in the harvest but under value those who plant seeds or the other way around. I also think that there is not just 2 reasons a person might want to be in this for. I think there are lots of reason. One person might do it for ministry, another might do it for the love of it, and another might jus be really good at it and work it like a job. Lol what's wrong with that? Just as their is room for business and ministry to cross over there should also be room for it not to intersect directly. But hey Wade hit me up on the gram and dm me fam i'd love to chop it up with u if at all possible. My gram is: wavecomingmusic. Lol I'm not even sure that I want to leave this comment here forever bc I almost feel like it might mess up my paper trail but plz hit me up fam let's talk.

Good word starting out at 1:29:22. Another good one Wade O. It's good to have your voice of reason back. I wonder though... can you deny God's people without denying Him? Or even better, in your scenario the dad would be Christ... so are they denying us or Him? He's dad, we're the siblings, it's His name not ours. Just something to think about.

Good to hear from you Wade-O. Been a fan since 08. Its always been more than ministry with you brother. In relation to the convo with Laide Mak, let me say that... if you are anything like me, then you probably get discouraged while observing the current landscape of CHH and the young urban Church in comparison to what it once was. But just remember that Christ hasn't changed. It was never just about our enjoyment of the culture. It has always been about our enjoyment of His Glory. He has called us for a time such as this. Those golden years in CHH were just preparation for brothers like you and Shai Linne to speak life into this drought by reminding the culture that they are settling for an inferior joy. With that being said... please continue to be the wise elder that Christ has called you to be in this space. Thanks for the many years of ministry that have helped disciple thousands from afar. I will be praying for your continued passion for all things Christ. God Bless

I would love for him to have been asked is he seeking deliverance from drinking, smoking, etc and is the message of deliverance relayed in his transparent message. I just think it's odd he volunteered no mention of it. Sure have your flaws and show them to the world but as men of God we should seek deliverance. That's the difference between us and the world...

Wade-O one thing I find interesting is John says he wants to get grimey. I've listened to his content post dream junkies and the major difference is cursing and saying the N-Word. Other than that there are a few songs that lean toward socially black consciousness. In other words it seems grimey is saying curses and n-words. I love J.Givez, I'm just finding out about him and with his talent, I was happy to share his music with my 10 year old. Can't do that currently. 😞

The way John speaks in this interview sounds a lot like how I feel within the Church. I feel like an outcast a lot of the time because the Church tends to have a certain look or a feel to it that just clashes with my bluntness. I applaud John for being himself, knowing God is working in his heart and he isn't perfect. I know that God is working in me in a similar way but it's very hard to be a Christian in that space. I feel a peace of where I'm going when I die but man this struggle on Earth has me crying and hurting most days. My dream for the work that God has put in my heart is to see the Church be more genuine or own up to failing. Because it's in that failing or falling short that shows the very need we have for a Savior. Us not being enough exalts Jesus. I think the temptation for John and myself is to become so frustrated by the lack of genuine Christianity and try to go "unfiltered" to passively call out the Church's hypocrisy. I want to find a way to approach this better but when you're the underdog and alone like Jeremiah, depression and loneliness take its toll. Maybe pastors need to be called out, maybe elders, idk but the way the Church operates needs to change because both of us aren't always living Biblically and that's what needs to be discussed and repented of. God give us grace cuz we (me too) need it so much!

I don't want him gone, but I do understand why he thought it was best for him to leave Christian Hip-hop. His very motives and intentions were on the cross roads. When it comes to "religious" Christianity it isn't just good and glorious as we want it to be - especially in US. If he was trying to get young people to go back into the house of the Lord and yet he, himself was having issues with what is going on in church - why would he continue to direct them there? That can cause a lot of uncertainty and conflicting thoughts. Personally - I got to know God better out of church than in church. So now when I am in church, I am not there to imitate nor trying to follow someone - I follow Christ! I do what God tells me to do. So personally I will send John all my love and he is in my prayers always - I pray for his success and that his success glorify God one way or another (for it is written - It all works together for good for those who love the Lord)! I'll pray that his heart don't delight in sin and that he continue to put Almighty as the leader and the guider of his life! Let it be!
