A summary for homework The video demonstrates the allegory between the Salem with trials and the Cold War/ McCarthyism, and it also shows the flaws of this comparison. It goes into detail about the red scare and the mass hysteria in the country. It is written at the height of this red scare which is why it was very controversial at the time. Hundreds of people are accused in both, however many in McCarthyism were actually communists which shows that in my opinion it is not a very good comparison.

Thanks for the comment! It's an interesting observation. Certainly in hindsight you can make the argument that communists were real whilst witches were not, however the relevant detail is that AT THE TIME OF the Salem witch trials (1690's), witches were believed to be JUST AS REAL as communists. So the perceived threat was relatively the same in both periods, hence making it an effective analogy.

As usual, the content is really insightful and helpful when it comes to studying the play. Thank you. However, the photo of Trump was simply unnecessary. You know full well that he is a controversial figure, and so bring him into the learning in a left-wing biased way. As you know that a large majority of your audience is likely students, this is highly innapropriate. We're here to learn about English, not receive political indoctrination. Such a disappointment.

Kinda sounds like what may be going on in the U.K. Here we have Boris, Rishi, and the whole lot, doing unimaginably stupid things that will ensure their defeat next election, that even arrogant rich bastards like them would avoid to do. It is a possibility that Rishi, Boris, and the gang are all puppets of a controlled plan to bring in a powerful opposition force that are hell bent on "undoing" what the arrogant politicians have done to the country. Naturally, everyone will back them up, and they will easily gain power, and even more power over time by reminding the public of the "old regime" and telling them the "new regime" is a force of good and will keep the country safe. May be happening in the U.S with senile Biden being the puppet like Rishi and Boris, but who knows. This is just a wild theory though. Probably more false than true.
