Remember the 70ties equipment? When you through the life raft into the water it sank? Wonder if nowadays it's possible to have a life raft expand with closed cell foam instead of air.

Why don't you ever want to be on a boat?
@bethroesch21562 жыл бұрын
@@waseatenbyagrue I've actually been on a couple of boats. The ones on the lake or river were fine because I could see land and swim for safety if I had to but on the ocean??? 😳 I am a whole coward 😂 I can't swim that far and since I'm a chubby granny, I'd make great shark bait. There's something about all of the nothing out in the open ocean that terrifies me. The thought of it just scares me to deatt

This is very good information. However I have one question... If someone dies from his injuries while in the raft, what should we do with the body?

The smokers will all probably jump off when they run out. They should probably be used as fish bait. If you land on a deserted island, bury the treasure and kill the men who dug the pit. Arrrrg

A quick question: the raft is attached by default to the vessel with a painter to avoid drifting the raft away from the vessel while engaging. But if the vessel is sinking, it'll pull the raft with it under the water. Is there a place to untie the raft from the vessel, or is it somehow automatic? Just wondering...
@moteroargentino79443 жыл бұрын
The raft is attached to the deck solely to activate the inflation system, not to prevent drifting. The way it works is if you launch it by hand, you can pull to release the gas manually. If the ship goes down too quickly and you don't have time to launch it, the hidrostatic release unit will automatically do it at a certain depth. Once released, the raft will float and pull the string, triggering the inflation which will increase the buoyancy and the tension will break a weak link set for this purpose, freeing the raft from the vessel and ascending to the surface.

The guy who was lost at sea for 70+ days had a spear in his liferaft and he said that jabbing the sharks caused them to go away. I have also seen a study where whale sounds will cause sharks to go away, so maybe have whale sounds on your cell phone.

Hi Matthew, We are developing free online health and safety resources for the New Zealand inshore commercial fishing industry, and it would be great if we could have permission to use some of this footage if possible? We would potentially only use some of the video, not the sound. It would be great if you could please let me know. My email is [email protected] Here is the link to our website: www.marinesafe.nz Look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Darren

I think a sheath knife should be attached to the life raft while it is tied to the boat or ship - It would make it easier and quicker to release it. [email protected] Ireland.
