I remember I was 17 and young n dumb when it first opened and before the speed camera was installed I joined the 'Tripple T Club' or Two hundred km/h Through (the) Tunnel. I was enjoying the sweet sound of my 5ltr V8 echoing off the walls when what sounded like the voice of God...(actually the tunnel traffic controller) came over my radio and yelled at me telling me to slow down. 😂

There is much opposition to the second road tunnel due to pollution and bringing more cars into the city from as far as the Hawksbury river.

The cross section of the immersed tubes is incorrect in the animation. There are actually 4 tubes, two additional service tubes are not shown.
