I'm conflictited. I used to be a fisherman, its exciting, gets you out in Nature, gives you something to do with your buddies. On the other hand, what magnificent creature! It can't be very fun to have a hook in your jaw and be fighting for your very life. How many of these things are left in the wild? What's the percentage from when they were abundant? It can't be much, like 5 percent. I say lets just leave them alone. Let them repopulate. Lets stop killing wild animals.

The tuna were fished out in 1963 in Sweden, but in 2016 they started to come back. Now there are many every year, before it was red-listed. Now it's not them anymore. 60 thousand tons were fished each year before. Then they decreased to 15 thousand tons. That was enough for it to recover very well again. We in Sweden are not allowed to land any. We just capture them and hand them over to the researchers at SLU. So they can label and sample them. Many species of fish are heavily fished with tuna being a wonderful exception that can be fixed again

Hey, they come every year. They usually arrive in mid-August. They are here for about 2-3 months.

We have used stand up before, but this is more gentle on the fish. We get them in between 25 min to 1 h now. There are only big tuna here. We got 5 fish this year. 250-256-264-286-291 cm 👍😃

Tack😀 Nej Sverige har ingen kvot på dem, inte Danmark heller. Men där finns en kvot på detta bestånd som uppgår till ca 38000 ton. Så beståndet börjar må bra nu. Vi och Danskarna märkte 175 st och ingen var återfångad. Så det finns massor av dem nu :)

Det var i år i Augusti, den kom tillbaka i stora stim 2016 :) kul att det är något som har blivit bättre i våra hav :)

The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
