I always loved how the story of Breath of Fire 2 revolved around the Church and how the religion was created to control people. A very real world issue you didnt see much in video games back then. I really loved the overall theme of this game and the decent into hell to defeat "God"

Breath of Fire 2 is probably my favorite BoF game of the series. I probably replayed this one more than any other. One thing I appreciate the game now, that I didn't back then, is the sounds. I never realized how arcady the sound is, which makes sense as it is a Capcom game. But those sounds bring me right back to when the game was first released. Good times.

One of the parts I remember most about this section, is Mogu's dream sequence. I remember playing it, then having to go to my grandparents, and while there thinking of nothing else but that area. I also remember owning the strategy guide, written by Prima, which is a city in this game. And my idiot brain thought that Prima, the guide, was based on that city :/

I remember the day this game came out and going to my local rental store and getting it. This game came out during a perfect storm of RPG's and I fell completely in love with it. Even at the time I knew it was going to be a cult classic. BoF even inspired me to design my own RPG as a kid using this gam e as a template! lol

Secret of Mana is one of my top 5 RPG's of all time. My friend at the time (who also introduced me to Lufia) owned this game and had let one of his friends (who would soon be one of mine because of this) borrow it. So we went to his house so I could borrow it and we ended up playing it with the SNES multiplayer thing. The Remake I feel does it justice, minus the music. I love the music in the remake, but nothing beats the 16 bit versions. I use to record them all onto a cassette tape when I was little lol.

Mystic Quest is often referred to as "babies first RPG" mainly due to the simple mechanics of dungeons and the almost literal forced path through the game. But it still has some dumb mechanics. The very first boss for example, is just a dps race. If it gets 1 crit hit, your dead... on the first boss lol I also only played this game as a kid because of the "Final Fantasy" in the name

I had an itch to replay the Pixel editions, and figured I would record the gameplay for... prosperity? Just in case I never play them again. I remember my mom coming home from Zellers (Canadian Walmart) with either a Nintendo Power or EGM or Gamepro or something, and FF3 (FF6) was the centerfold. It was the first centerfold to ever get me excited.

I had an itch to replay the Pixel editions, and figured I would record the gameplay for... prosperity? Just in case I never play them again. FF6 Is the best FF game in the series. Period. End of Sentence. The characters, the story, the twist halfway through... I cant tell you how many times I played through this game as a kid. I remember even spending hours and hours leveling each character to like 75 BEFORE the end of the world of Balance. And like mentioned before, I thought FF6 was a direct sequel to FF4 as a kid lol

I had an itch to replay the Pixel editions, and figured I would record the gameplay for... prosperity? Just in case I never play them again. After playing all the Final Fantasy's back to back its really cool to see how 5 not only improves on the Job system from 3, but takes every single game before it and improves upon it. The story, the multiple maps, the switching of your party characters, etc... There is a reason why 5 is a lot of the FF developers favorite.

I had an itch to replay the Pixel editions, and figured I would record the gameplay for... prosperity? Just in case I never play them again. FF5 and the Internet is how I learned that FF2/FF3 were actually FF4/FF6. It was the how I learned about emulation as well, as that was the only way I could play it at the time. I have also played the first 5 hours of this game more times than any other game.

FF6 here was FF3. So, as young as I was, I thought the War of The Magi from FF3 (FF6) was a reference to FF2 (FF4) And that the Espers were the characters and summoned monster from FF2 (FF4) :)

FF4 is special, in that it is the first SNES RPG I ever played, and beat. I remember renting with my allowance every week, praying my save was still there, and never being able to beat the Mist Dragon. Until one day i could, and it all clicked.

I had an itch to replay the Pixel editions, and figured I would record the gameplay for... prosperity? Just in case I never play them again. FF3 is a weird one for me. Lots of people love it, but I found the story to be a bit... disjointed. But this gave birth to the Job system which is a massive plus. And I always loved the discovery of the real open world.

I like the skill system, the 4th character changes, the central quest hub of Altair made the story and quests easier to follow. Plus the intro to Dragoons. And who doesnt love Dragoons?

I didnt have the chance to play FF2 until after 1, 4, and 6 via emulator. I actually really like the skill system in this game as it prepped me for MMO's like Ultima and Everquest. Undead are weak to healing, if that helps anyone at all. Champion does a hell of a job of dealing with those chariots. Also, should have gotten that weapon for Selan... Valor has a chance not to bring someone back to life if you don't use it on one person only.

One thing to get the pets up is the 1000 Cider that you can get in Sundleton. They will take them at any level and gives 3 bars at a time (they're much more cost effective than the daggers - 1000 for 3 bars vs 1200 for 3 bars). And the secret fruit that you already fed Foomy is what you needed to get him up to his last level. Each pet has a special fruit just to evolve them to their last level.
@7thlittleleopard72 жыл бұрын
Gades is beatable but you need to grind quite a bit for it (or do it in New Game+). I usually grind until Selan's health is over 100~120. New Game + gives you 4x EXP and Gold for each battle, so it's a lot easier to beat him second time around, since you're likely to be a much higher level when you reach him. He's a hard fight but there's a nice prize for defeating him, though it doesn't drop 100%.

The new one also has additional side quests and gives characters like Agrias more development after they permanently join your party. I know there's an added scene in chapter 4 where Mustadio awkwardly tries to ask her out on her birthday and is ultimately rejected. This game does need a proper remake though. You might want to check out Tactics Ogre if you like this game. Created by the same person that made FFT. It is a much, much harder game but the storyline is absolutely brilliant.

This game always felt unfinished to me. That's not a knock on it but it was during a time that Square was hella experimental. It had great concepts but they really should've spent a little more time to refine it a bit. I think it was because it came out super close to PS2. It kind of reminded me of Saga Frontier 2.

I don't know if you ever found the key to that locked box in Dorino village, but you simply go back and talk to the man in that house with the locked box and give him the nagaette bromide you collected in one of the drawers in the haunted chapel, also in 600 AD, north of where you are and where you saved Leene and the chancellor. You see it in the room where you fought several of the female nagettes.
