The terminology here is not accurate. "Last, Width & Volume" are often independent attributes. Width is different from "volume". A closure styles can effect the shape as size of the volume. You would do well to describe how different closure systems can accommodate for a wide, low volume foot.

beginner here. i actually went 1 full size up from my street shoes on them Black Diamond Momentum’s. there’s a little bit of space on either side of my heels, but fits nice and snug other than that.

You're doing zero degrees for the base edge!? That poor soul who has to ski on these is going to have a hard time. The edges are going to be SUUUUPER grabby. It makes it more difficult to keep a flat ski. You should always do at least one degree on the base.
