I have a daughter who was diagnosed with Autism at 18. She is now 20. We actually took 6 years to do High School but most transcripts(I purchased a year subscription from HSLDA), have 4 years for High Scool. I have all her credits and grades recorded ,but will put them in as though she did it in 4 years. Are there any suggestions you have for specifying this on the transcript? She did fairly well as long she had accommodations. In elementary school, she had an IEP so when I pulled her out, I basically became her IEP..lol
@TheBraveHomeschoolingMama2 ай бұрын
You could separate the credits into the 4 years. You could also use some as extracurriculura and write them in a separate document. This is all I can think of at the moment for this. Sorry I wasn't very helpful.

Im glad to have found your channel! I was wanting to know, do you do any therapies for your daughter or have any supports in place for her as she gets older, for transition skills or job skills or anything? My daughter will 16 in the fall and starting 9th grade. She has autism and some undiagnosed learning disabilities...definitely behind on math (sounds similar to your daughter from the videos I've watched) and has a huge interest in animals too! We started looking into supports for her but as we've gotten into it I haven't felt peaceful about continuing with it because their approach certainly isn't based from a Biblical worldview and much more on the world's standards so Im thinking well maybe that stuff just becomes a part of her homeschooling! LOL lots to think about but trusting the Lord to lead us.

We don’t do any therapy other than counseling. I think exposing them to things that have to do with their passions is helpful. My daughter spent all her high school years working or volunteering in a farm.

What does the school say about them learning at a different level? My son is also behind from his disabilities and struggling in school. I'm thinking too home school him, but was wondering what they will say when I turn the portfolio in with below grade level work? They know on his IEP that he is currently below in several classes. Please and thank you
@TheBraveHomeschoolingMama3 ай бұрын
I think it will depend on what your plans are after high school and on your state. But as long as you are teaching the core it doesn’t matter what level they are at. Hope this helps.

So the student don't write their paragraphs, essays, etc on the student book? If so, then the student book just give directions and a few exercises? Kindly clarify this for me. Thank you
@TheBraveHomeschoolingMama3 ай бұрын
Yes there are some exercises but the actual writing of essays is done on paper or computer.

Hi! Are you still enjoying this curriculum? How do you feel it teaches the math facts? Mainly flash cards? Have you had any experience with Math with Confidence? Thanks, Emily Rudolph

I love the curriculum. We had to stop since my son is demanding avoidance and we had to unschool for a while. The facts are up to you to review. The TG tell you which ones you should work on per unit.

Hello I have a question, I have a daughter with severe autism, she’s non verbal, and isn’t potty trained so I think it’s best I homeschool her. My question is, don’t they test them each year? How can they test a child with severe autism who can’t write or speak ?
@TheBraveHomeschoolingMama10 ай бұрын
Hey! It all depends on your state. In VA we can use an evaluator to show progress whatever that looks likes. Check with your stare laws and see what is needed at the end of the school year. Hope this helps some.

Would you suggest a kindergarten, who's got autism, doing core subjects every day?? First time homeschool mom here...my older neuro typical kids do core subjects every day. But I'm so torn how and where to start with my asd son.. he's 5.5 yrs old.

At 5 he doesn’t need to do core subjects every day. You can definitely alternate day. We play games as part of language arts also.

I've been homeschooling my kids since my now highschool freshman was doing Pre-K. But now that she is in highschool, I've been a nervous wreck. I'm glad you mentioned how different it is. I feel more validated knowing that I'm not the only experienced homeschooling mama who is dealing with some stress about homeschooling a high schooler. I've been checking out every program imaginable. I just want to "get it right". I don't want to mess something up and ruin her future chances in any way. But some of the online high schools and curriculum are WAY out of my price range. I think this may be the one. I might switch all my kids to using this next year. Thank you for this informative, helpful video.

I have to say I would have liked to see a review more about how the program works than a long tour of the dashboard. Most program's dashboards are pretty similar and self-explanatory-- but how is the LEARNING EXPERIENCE for your child!? And is there another way of gauging her progress other than what the Elephant crew themselves tells you?! With kindness, I didn't find the review that helpful.
