I was Blessed to be in that number that watched Threadgills early years while I was in college. He wrote a lullaby for my son. How many know the ‘hubcap’ playing aficionado. Happy Birthday my friend❣️

That’s from the folk singer Woody Guthrie. He had a sticker on his guitar that read “This machine kills fascists”.

3) Diedre Murray (not Deidre) plays cello and has a great solo, Abdul Wadud is not on the band. I don't know the second cello player; 4) Only Brandon Ross plays guitar (I don't see Jean Paul Bourelly); 5) I don't know the percussionist (who has a big role in the music played) and is not listed in the credits. Tks. Regards Jose Sieiro from São Paulo -Brazil.

Great music! Great joy to hear and see this band live, but watching the video I see many in corrections in the personnel listed at the end: 1) the drummer I think is Reggie Nicholson (not Pheeroan Aklaff); 2) Craig Harris plays trombone (not trumpet) and is not in the band (second trombonist looks like Conrad Herwig);

HT: "I wanted to have something so people can experience how powerful the music can be and overwhelming.... So that was functional music. It was not music for listening; it was music that you were supposed to be able to react to... You jumped up and wanted to stand on your head or do a spin on your ass or whatever you wanted to do. It wasn't there for you to sit there and meditate on; it wasn't that type of music."

Thank You So Much for these vids. I was tight with Henry in the 80s and was at the first Situation Society Dance in lower Manhattan. This is absolutely brilliant, this much footage of live Threadgill and the dance band, like everything he has ever conceived, took the audience out into unfamiliar territory yet with enough familiar tidbits to keep us from veering over the edge. Absolutely great vids. Gonna poke fun at a few friends of mind re how good looking they were in this vid ;-)
