Such a nice cycle of etudes. I love how those harmonies in 7th are very similar to some Alkan chord progressions (I would say that Alkan has used practically same progression)! Albeniz had to have very llarge musical knowledge!

Une charmante découverte qui montre bien qu'avant d'écrire Iberia ( souvent décrite comme une oeuvre dans la descendance de Liszt), Albéniz était aussi un parfait connaisseur de Schumann ( études 3 et 7)), et plus encore de Chopin ! ( presque toutes les autres).Comme tous les vrais créateurs ces filiations ne l'ont pas empêché d'être déjà lui même.'

Love them! He must have been incredible to hear improvise. The several recordings of him improvising give a little taste. The Chopin influence is s beautiful to hear as he developed into the master he became.
