Very symbolic, this whole scene. I think, along with "Gone With the Wind" , this movie may say more about the American people than practically anything else. We are a unique people, but liberals seem to hate that so much they want to destroy the whole idea of the USA being special somehow....they are vindictive and angry and oddly embarrassed at how well we've functioned under our maginificant US Constitution and our Bill of Rights. Instead we are forever and imperialist and racist oppressor nation, despite the fact people do practically anything to get here, except now they don't want to join America, they just want to milk her for all she's got. And by teaching the youngest that we don't deserve anything we've got, we just sit in a corner and feel like a bunch of jerks.

Was a good lesson, I found the 'syncopation' with the hands helpful, I naturally seem to do this which helps my playing, but the tips you gave help it run smoother when i try it!! thanks Mark, will look out for your other videos... I particually would like to get into that free bebop style which I can do badly as it just sounds random, so i get do it in my head or by singing it, but on piano its quite hard to do?!?!?!?! thanks again

In the meantime here's some info. "I am attaching a little blurb that I have for prospective students. I'm very familiar teaching well trained classical piano students who want to expand into jazz! And I'm experienced with beginner jazz students, or musicians/vocalist from other disciplines, who have some piano playing under their belt. I'm available for private lessons on an "as needed" basis. (No big commitment to a set schedule) My rate is 90.00 CDN, for at least an hour, (sometimes I go overtime, but that's on me!) Payment can be cash, on-line bank transfer, or PAYPAL. paypal.me/eisenmanjazz Online students… ZOOM is fine (for video/audio), I have a very nice set-up. But use the latest version of Zoom and a computer (your phone can be used for an overhead shot of the keys, but for best sound student should use headphones and a dedicated mic if possible, not the phone mic) see this video about the ZOOM AUDIO SETTINGS Best to use a computer (not a phone) , definitely headphones (not Bluetooth), and even a microphone (not USB) and then read this: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115003279466-Configuring-audio-for-music-and-singing The key for piano lessons is that I have a VIEW from above the keys so that I can see what the student is doing as if I am over their shoulder. I can show you what I do for YOU to be able to hear and see me clearly. Here’s an example of one of my camera set-ups and the sound. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hobLh6tseN6KpZI In Person Lessons 276 Willow Ave. In the Beach area of Toronto. <maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=276+Willow+Ave,+Toronto,+ON&sll=40.630989,-73.622172&sspn=0.010683,0.021222&ie=UTF8&z=16&iwloc=addr> TTC does get close to here. You should also bring a notebook for me to write in. (8x11) Record the lessons. I can use my set-up to video the lesson and send you a link to get it, our you can use your phone, or any other device.

Hi Mark, is there any chance you could make a solo improv video like the comping one you did about Red Garland? It means a lot.
@MarkEisenman29 күн бұрын
Yes. It would be helpful if there were some specific questions that I could try to deal with. Are there some specific things that you would like me to try and address. Or would you like me to just talk about how I approach solo piano playing in a jazz setting.

@@MarkEisenman Thanks for your answer Mark!! I mean especially the soloing. I think you really come close to the red garland timing etc, and what techniques like licks you use or that you have found something that offers more freedom.

A beautiful an soulful interpretation...I don't no exactly why, but the mood of your piano playing in this case reminds me to the recording of this song by John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman...great job, Mark...thnaks a lot!

i have a number of pianist transcriptions for this that leave out the "B" in the first chord which I just don't get...many leave out the "G" in the C^7 but I think it is essential to hearing the inner tone movement. so kudos and ty! lol i wrote the above and then saw how u left out the G in the first C^7 and it did sound good! I think it was the G in the second chord that is more significant...maybe...enough rambling...ty again...
