I watched this guy play the Goldberg Variations in one sitting just a few months ago. Amazing stuff, not the finest pianist ever but certainly of a high standard and, more importantly, exactly what was needed for Bach, a richly textured sound with warmth and good sonority. And, on a side note, never have I heard a concert hall so silent, and this is in 2024 where people respond with confusion if you even mention concert etiquette in passing in a conversation!!!

Pressler - I am just discovering because I am learning this piece but this man really touches me musically deep. I've now heard many virtuoso versions. His is the least technical, and by far the one that reaches inside me and wrenches something loose that is beautiful and emotional. I am a lifetime musician so this is so special to me. Measures 52-55 he just explodes that piece with such grand emotion and power it's really hits at your soul! I will not approach a piece of music lightly again without thinking more about what should be musically conveyed, not just played.

Oggi il signor menahem passo' dalle mie parti per una sonatina di chopin post tempo massimo. Si pensa di potersi ringiovanire un po' perche' e' morto ormai. Giusto una sonatina pensava. Sinceramente lo aspettavamo..... la gioia piu' grande? 4 pedate nel culo a rotoli: la mia idea e' rolling in the depth. E cosi' fu per quel povero vecchio rottame senza speranza.

I hope no one made these people pay to have to sit on the floor. This is the best evidence I can think of that classical music is in a final decadent phase before its ultimate death. It will go out as a pathetic clawing at relevance rather than with a semblance of dignity.
