There are so many parts of this scene I love! When Kathleen tilts her head after saying her name, “how do you sleep at night?”, “Joe Fox, F-O-X!”, “that cavier is a garnish!”, the Godfather references….love it, love it, love it!

I read somewhere that growing up, Shannon Doherty was not allowed to swear or she never had a foul mouth. So when she had to deliver the line, “Veronica, why are you pulling my d*ck?” She almost couldn’t get through it without laughing. It’s kind of cute

So, guy belittles, dismisses, demeans her store and business approach, puts her out of business, 😮lies about his identity (acts of omissions are lies) and it ends in a kiss. I felt like I was groomed to tolerate and accept unacceptable male behavior. This premise and plot has always rubbed me the wrong way. We do know this is a remake of "Shop Around the Corner" (Margaret Sullivan, Jimmy Stewart); "The Good Old Summertime" (Judy Garland, Van Johnson), right?

I was just watching this movie today. My 3rd time actually. I can’t choose between Sleepless in Seattle or You’ve Got Mail. And yet seeing Tom & Meg in this scene makes me think how tough it is these days to find a nice fluffy romcom. And I’m not just talking about the two leads star billing. It’s not the only essential ingredient. This movie is as sweet as pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.

I love the dedication he has to win her over. At first I thought the extra 30 minutes was unnecessary and should have ended up on the cutting room floor when they edited the movie. But now, I see why he went to such great lengths to rebuild her trust. He took the time to develop their “friendship” first. That was wise! And I love all the quotable lines, expressive facial gestures, and sentimental moments! They really pull you in.
