It would be an understatement indeed to say that Vivien Leigh was mesmerizingly beautiful. Her beauty is unmatched in any time period. I fell in love with her watching the Waterloo Bridge. She set the standard for women way too high for us men because compared to her no woman can equal her beauty.

Just finally watched our old DVD of Fiddler on the Roof (had freegon never seen this show or heard the music) and, man, this song is a total showstopper. In the director's commentary, Norman Jewison actually says, this actress isn't a total stage musical caliber singer but she does a great job. And he does concede her acting is phenomenal. Re: her voice it's like, yeah dude, the lyrics, haunting music and her earnest voice are a total grand-slam. I personally don't think this version of the song could be any better. Haunting. We don't need a diva singing this song. Beautiful and heart wrenching. WOW!

This was a sociology assignment 43yrs ago..a classmate and I drug each other to the theater gripping the entire way! I was hooked a third of the way in ❤! It showed me another culture in an unprecedented way and became my favorite movie of all time! All seven of my own children were ‘made’ to watch it and fell in love as well! It’s a family tradition to view once a year 😊

I've been married to a Mexican girl now for 31 years. She is just like Juana here in Giant......quiet but beautiful and there's nothing more passionate than Latino women with black hair and big brown eyes. Elsa Cardenas(Juana) was one of God's most beautiful creations.

If Vivien Leigh's part had been played by Mae West & Robert Taylor's part by Groucho Marx she wouldn't give a fig about selling her body to some old wino!

When she says "Oh what a melancholy choice this is" my heart just drops. Out of all the lyrics i don't know why, but this one gets me.
The saddest line in the whole movie is, 'We've been waiting for the Messiah our whole lives. Wouldn't this be a good time for Him to come?' The Jewish Messiah has already come! Yet they still wait for His first arrival, while Christians await His return! 'He came to his own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.' John 1:11-13 ESV But there is still hope. If any Jews or non-Jews read this, I pray that you will realize that the Messiah has already come for you, for all mankind to save them!!!
