I finished my 50% Laser a few years ago. It flys great. I have a build video and flight video on my channel. Have you worked on yours anymore?

RMJ rings come pre gapped. I have been having problems with a Stinger 15cc weak compression from new. Poor idle and unreliable. They claim 2 gallons of fuel will break in the ring. Thats BS. That would be over 8 hours of continuous running. The end gap was .015 ! Gallons of fuel through an engine will not make that any better. Ordered a new ring from RMJ pre gapped at .001. It should break in enough to fly with 30 minutes of running. Obviously Stinger engines have QC issues.

The density of resin is 1100 kg/m3 and the density of paint is 1200 kg/m3. So, by removing the top layer of resin and replacing it with paint, no only adds weight, but makes the construction weaker than before.

Paint is not used to fill the weave. Not removing the resin to save weight (although it does help), it's to provide a consistently smooth surface to then be sanded and filled. When the resin is left on the surface is not consistent and it can be easy to sand through the cloth in one area and leave resin in another area.

You don't get toilet paper fibers?
@AHETom3 жыл бұрын
Nope and if you did they would sand off easily with 400 prior to priming

Is this the G&L Hobbies 50% laser?
@AHETom3 жыл бұрын
No this is a custom built 50% Laser

@@AHETom Ah ok. I’m about to build one myself. I will use foam rib wing and a built up fuse. I will power it with a 3W 342cc. It will have similar construction as the old Jack Strickland and Brad Shepard Lasers.
