My old boss bought one and liked that everyone would get out of the way but had to spray paint his helmet black to avoid a ticket after the warning but you look and see security guards riding one to work looking like an officer

Sage green is a good conservative color. Chrysler had its days of glory, like 1964. 413 gave that car all the guts and gumption it needed. Let her roll down the highway. Randy Bachman might second the motion.

........ I wonder how many owners of these Chrysler have problems with too-sensitive brakes, making them very hard to modulate. ... It's why I'm afraid to buy / own one.
@huckster66

When my brother purchased this car the rear brake drum was almost impossible to remove we even had a Chrysler dealership try it and they couldn’t remove it. Turns out his buddy ended up torturing it pulling out the axle shaft replacing the axle shaft and putting all new brakes on. But yes, you definitely have to plan your stops you cannot ride too close to people in front of you. A lot of people take these old drum brakes and switch them over to rotors and pads.

@@huckster66 ..... My limited experience with these cars.. was that the brake vacuum booster was much too strong, and thus very difficult to modulate in daily use. .... IF there only was a way to reduce to vacuum boost, THEN it could be much more pleasant, IMO.

1964 was a model year in which Imperial did not share its body with any Chrysler model, and Chrysler itself did not share its body with any of the other Mopar brands. Interesting.

There are a few still around yet. My brother and I would pick lots of parts off ones in junk yards in the 80’s. Now, hard to find. He has another 64’ one that he has been sitting on for about fifteen years or so, it is a NewPort. That is our project this year. It needs brakes and new leaf spring in back and paint job. No rust very solid like the green NewYorker. No video on that one. The NewPort has the 361 V8 engine.

Exactly! But back in the days everthing was optional. This car came with a deletion plate where radio went as well. Had a few am radios, so had to install that with original antenna.

My dad had a 1961 New Yorker that was beautiful. This model year looks like a taxi cab. The interior is cheap looking. The engine was the same but the valve covers had a decal of a lion and were painted black. Sounds silly but details matter. Chrysler sure was cutting corners by this time. Not putting down this effort, it is nicely restored but so sad to be reminded of how Chrysler tanked.

The Chrysler does have all the emblems. The trunk one would be a nice one to get a spare of. Don't need it but those seem hard to come by. One tip though if you need to mount a emblem on or in chrome base, use a "silicone base caulk". Will not melt paint on back of emblem.

Does it have both c-pillar emblems? These emblems are nearly always gone! The gold tripple crown mounted in the chrome with red line is just so nice! Could you post a video of these emblems?

I had one of these , loved it . I worked the 413 some , gave it a dual reservoir master cylinder out of a Cadillac (fabbed adapter plate) , custom headers, cam , rings , double roller chain , 3 angle valves , intake manifold , custom headers and exhaust , and electronic ignition (hated those high humidity starts) with coil . I would have gone further with it like front discs and a newer rear axle (not 'keyed') , and aftermarket air conditioning , but circumstances stopped that in it's tracks . I miss that car , surprised a few people with it . Was a monster once you got it rolling .

I bet it was. These engines were already rated over 300 hp and with a few engine updates and mods could get this thing to fly (can change the manifold and muffler system to let it breathe better Those 413 were bullet proof if you kept up with general mantainance. A real solid car, it was no light weight!!
