X was definitely the best. I really can't decide if I like X2 or X3 better. They both have cool things, and they both have sucky things. Gameplay wise, and just, format wise. Honestly, I think 3 was the most interesting. If a few things were tweaked a little bit, I think it would reign supreme by a long shot, barring nostalgia from the first one. Also, bro, the OG Megaman 2 and 3? C'mon. The slide and power shot changed the game. But, so did the dash, and the wall jump, and yadda yadda. What a ledge. Nice lesson, Prof. Be well.

Love this game! I grew up playing Mega Man. I owned the original on NES as a kid. Ever since then I've been a dedicated Mega Man fan!

X2 is probably better than the original, EXCEPT for the fact that the random X Hunter Stages kind of mess with a solid boss order. X3 has great ideas, like different bosses depending on how you defeat other bosses. There is no perfect game, BUT the original Mega Man X is just about as close as you can really get, so sequels had an even higher bar than just any other given game.

Just an odd tidbit fact, if you fight Agile in the Maverick stage and he kills you, he returns to the "arms crossed behind him" pose he entered the room in as you explode. As if to say "tough luck, old boy." No other enemy has an animation for when they take you out.

Maverick Hunter X which is a remake of the first X game. With voice overs and an unlockable movie which tells us the backstory of what happened before the Maverick outbreak. Fun fact about the remake Vile is beatable in his mech and it still retains everything in the original but some power ups have been moved. Example: The slide mechanic isn't in Chill Penguin's stage its in Flame Mammoth's stage where you got the arm upgrade

Happy Thanksgiving Professor Brigands. For some reason I never played any of the Mega Man Games. I can't comment on any of these games. Mega Man games kind of reminds me of the Contra Games or even Metroid. Thanks for sharing.

Learned about this game a few years ago and it’s classic nes, this is what the console was about once it hit its peak. You won’t get an experience like kick master on some other system.

So it actually IS possible to get the upgrade in Wheel Gator's stage by using the Strike Chain, but it requires pixel-perfect timing. I only pulled it off once.
@Blayne062 сағат бұрын
I've managed to get that upgrade with a well-timed dash jump off the wall. It's pixel-perfect to pull off, but getting the Double Charge Shot that early is amazing.

While I get that the move pool(s) would start to dry up, I really wish that the X series kept the hidden fighting game move as a bonus reward for the games. Would have LOVED to see X interpret/perform a Shun Goku Satsu, for instance. Granted, if memory timeline tracks, I don't think Akuma was a known character outside of Capcom just yet.

This is another of those games that I owned that I resented, simply because it was really disappointing that Zero wasn't a playable character. We all felt entitled to having Zero as a playable character, and we were bitter about it. Other than that, I don't remember it actually being bad. I always thought he was called Rockman because Dr Light loved rock and roll? And Rush was named after the band Rush. Or maybe a reference not so blatant but still related to music.

Rare was nintendo’s best developer, they made Battletoads and Donkey Kong. I’ve heard people say ljn was just a publisher for their games but it says something when Rare made the worst video game ever made in my opinion. This game is just designed bad and plays terribly, It’s nice to see a walkthrough and 101 on this one, no one’s really tackled it.

James Rolfe (aka The Angry Video Game Nerd) did a bad review of this game and the other games that are released by LJN for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Yeah the quality of the LJN games comes down to the developers which is why there are some very solid LJN published games and some stinkers like this one.
