Great Video! The government should do more videos like this. Maybe one on the Kaibab?

So that loved ones and those who care can pay their respects without tearing through protected land. That's the purpose of ACE, to conserve these lands. Also, this area was burned to dust, not much remains anyway

I am happy that they made this park for these heroes. There should be a requirement that all politicians must build memorial state parks during their time in office.

I think a stipend is provided but that may have changed. Finding a furnished place to rent for 4-5 months sounds like an expensive challenge though and not sure how that will play out.

Who wants to help create an app for fire fighters. It needs wind direction, temp with humidity levels. Types of fuel ie shrub oak or oak trees, pine trees , cedar trees Manzanita, chaparral., rabbit brush grasses each fuel burns at different temps etc etc. Area overall moisture conditions ie. Year or years of drought. With the proper scenarios crossed with the apps layers it should give detail info. How fast the fire is moving, how tall are the flames, what's the temp of the flames. Temp is huge because the those fire tents can only withstand a certain temp. Granite Mountain guys were hit by over 2000 degree flames. No way would those tents have saved anyones life. For me take all of this, add it up and the app should tell them.. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE OUT OF THE BLACK, DO NOT TRY AND RE ENGAGE THE FIRE, A DEPLOYMENT SIGHT AND FIRE TENTS WON'T WORK FOR PROTECTION. at this point you have solid info that should allow these firefighters to decide as a group, what to do. I know the human element is way better than the computer technology element, but when it comes down to it , when computers and technology make decisions it seems that there is less loss of life. but when humans make decisions it just seems like there's a larger loss of life. so let's get rid of the human error factor to protect these heroes of ours.

I finally watched the movie. I lost it at the end. Weeks later it's still in my head haunting me. Unbelievably the saddest thing ever. I feel after investigating many other fires, it seems it's the 3 same things that have killed many HOT SHOTS. 1 never lose sight of the fire line. 2. Communication seems to be a huge part in these fatalities. 3. GPS locaters on them at all times. 4. Helmet or body cameras this is an extra one. There is to much technology for this to happen. There should be apps created to show fire direction scenarios that affix with the GPS locaters on the got shots. So any hot shot with a cell phone can upload their area. Make wind change estimates and then decide if they are possibly in harm's way ( if things Change) take the guess work out of the equation bottom line something needs to be dr one about this. Picks and shovels dont cut it anymore. And as one fire fighter said inthe south hill fire in 1994. Everybody was grumbling and uneasy. At this point crews need to get together re evaluate their situation and decide if they should be th err re or not. In 2003 I was evacuated from my home in the cuyumaca mts. We left our home because of the historic Cedar Fire. We found out that a hot shot crew from Colorado springs made a stand at our home. They lit a back fire and stopped that shit right in its tracks. My kids and I were in Walmart after we found out who saved our home. We Seen the colorado springs hot shots and thanked them with all our hearts. I told these guys that they were freaking awesome and are total heroes. How do you properly thank a fire fighter who's putting his life on the line for your homes and your safety.

Agree. GPS could have dropped that water on a dime. God Bless all of them.
@jaredkelly9303 жыл бұрын
They’re called watch out situations for a reason. As far as dropping water on these guys goes this fire, when it made its run was burning at over 2,000 degrees. If a tanker or chopper with a bambi bucket had been able to fly over them, the water never would have hit the ground.
