Im Czech and i was able to pronounce R since my 2 years Ř in 3 years and I was an attraction for all the adults who were amused by the way the little boy pronounced those difficult letters and words in a textbook way. Now im watching this video with that very adorable instructor lady and ist just fun to me trying it acording her instructions.... Anyway if any foreigner manage to pronounce it correctly he instatly get 100 respect points from any Czech :) I hope this is enough motivation. One advice or remark... R sounds very hard and tough to us... so if some Czech is telling you something with lot of Rs he/she would be probably revile or upset to you :) R has its power, penetration and accent... most of Czech swear-word contains R ... with strong accent on that R when pronounced.) :)))))

"Ny" suena como "ne" en español?
@BecauseCzechIsCool
@BecauseCzechIsCool 15 күн бұрын

Are the czech "h" and the german "h" technically the same or should I hear the difference? If they are different - what is the differrnce between them? jzst curious ...
@Ana_Al-Akbar
@Ana_Al-Akbar Ай бұрын
They are similar. But the German sound h is voiceless and the Czech sound is voiced. The German h is just like the English h.

I find it especially challenging for German native speakers to exactly reproduce the Czech "ch" sound. In German we have two "ch" sounds, [ç] like in "ich" and [x] like in "ach". There is apparently only one "ch" sound in Czech, but it's neither of the two German ones, it lies somewhere in between them 😅
@BecauseCzechIsCool

Ahoj, Ana_Al-Akbar is right, the German H is voiceless. In this video they explain how to create the German H sound, you can compare it with my explanation, I hope it helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIKrc6Bsmr1moaMsi=3YZG6CpOQ3rfzXe6&t=30

What is the difference between nedal/a by sis and nechtěl/a bys
@BecauseCzechIsCool
@BecauseCzechIsCool Ай бұрын
Ahoj! Great question. It's somewhat similar, but "nedal by sis" (dát si + accusative) is typically used in the context of offering or suggesting food and drinks. For example, it could mean "Wouldn't you like some...?" On the other hand, "nechtěl bys" (chtít + the accusative) is more commonly used in broader contexts, for example for inviting someone to do something. It often translates as "Would you like to...?" or "Shall we...?" For instance, you might say: Nechtěl bys jít do kina? ("Would you like to go to the cinema?"). You can use "nechtěl bys" for food and drinks as well, but "nedal by sis" cannot be used in contexts other than food and drinks. I hope this helped.

Very nice video. When "Ř" appears in the middle of a word, as in "potřebuji" or "samozřejmě", is it also pronounced softly? So something like an “Š”?
@BecauseCzechIsCool
@BecauseCzechIsCool 2 ай бұрын
Yes, but it depends on which letter is next to it. If it’s next to a voiced consonant (such as ž, b, d, z, ...), we pronounce a voiced (“strong”) Ř, as in the word "samozřejmě". If it’s next to an unvoiced consonant (such as š, p, t, s, ...), we pronounce an unvoiced (“soft, weak”) Ř, as in the word "potřebuju". At the end of a word, Ř is also unvoiced, as in "pepř".
